Sing: Movie Review

By: Matt Suzara

Buster Moon (voice of Matthew McConaughey) badly needs a tremendous idea to avoid the foreclosure of his theater inherited to him by his father. Desperate to make a hit, he organized a singing competition with $100,000 as a prize, but unfortunately he doesn't have enough cash. With the whole town lining up in front of his theater for audition, Buster Moon is still optimistic and determined to pull this off. He picks a gorilla (Taron Edgerton), a mother pig (Reese Witherspoon) and her dance partner (Nick Kroll), a rock star porcupine (Scarlett Johansson), a mouse (Seth MacFarlane), and a reluctant elephant (Tori Kelly) to slug it off and hopes for achieving the biggest hit inside his aging theater.

It seems like the other animals who didn't land a major role in Zootopia turned out as great singers and earns a spot in the newest Illumination Entertainment animation "Sing." The animation was pretty decent, and the film was enjoyable and adorable at the same time. The title speaks for itself as the entire movie is filled with different tracks and featured songs that will make you sing-along with all the hits.

The story might be a little worn-off, but the film manages to come up with ideas to make it engaging not only for the kids but also with the adults.  The visuals are astonishing, and the characters are all easy to love as they went to perform charming musical numbers that are one hundred percent entertaining.

Overall, Sing is a colorful animated flick that will leave a huge smile on your faces as you leave the cinema. It is the perfect film for the whole family to enjoy where in Illumination Entertainment once again successfully creates another solid entry on their already impressive resume.
