The Super Parental Guardians: Movie Review

By: Matt Suzara

When Sarah (Matet De Leon)  got killed by the vigilantes, her dying wish to her best friend, Arci (Vice Ganda) is to take a good care of her two kids Megan (Awra Briguela) and Ernie (Onyok Pineda). Sarah's brother Paco (Coco Martin) who also happens to be a gang leader, wants to find the suspect and put her sister's death into justice. Soon, the two are forced to cohabitate even they can't seem to stand each other. They need to work together to raise the kids right while finding a lead to the group that killed Sarah.

It's quite surprising that the MMFF took a different path this year where in, they picked a fresh line-up to offer this Christmas Day. As a result, The Super Parental Guardians got an earlier release date together with Vic Sotto's "Enteng Kabisote 10 and the Abangers."

Vice Ganda's newest film is pretty much the same thing with his comedy antics and formula that still clicks with his loyal patrons each year. We find My Super Parental Guardians funny and corny at the same time. There are jokes that we really laugh hard especially when  the scene stealer Awra Briguela is around. However, there are some scenes that are unfunny and made us scratch our heads.

Vice Ganda and Coco Martin did a pretty nice job even with a messy script. You can see that they are both committed to their roles bring each scene to life. Child stars Onyok Pineda and Awra Briguela shined in their wacky portrayal and mostly got the spotlight the two deserved.

Overall, My Super Parental Guardians can't please every moviegoer, but we are sure that there are a lot of contented and happy faces when we left the cinema. It is really up to the viewers, whether you'll hate or love the film.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 6 out of 10 stars
