Allied: Movie Review

By: Matt Suzara
Set during World War II, Allied tells the story about two people Max Vatan (Brad Pitt) and Marianne Beauséjour (Marion Cottilard) who are both tasked to do an assassination mission at Casablanca. The two pretend as married couple, and they eventually succeeded to finish their dangerous assignment. Soon, they fall in love and decided to get married but secrets from the past will haunt them and will put their relationship to the test.

Allied is such a remarkable tragic love story film. We didn't expect that this will turn out really good and will trigger all your emotions while enjoying every second of it. At first, we thought that the film would turn out  boring since the trailer isn't interesting enough to make me look forward to see it. It's just a bit intriguing since this film was tagged as a major issue with the split of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. But, the film was simply outstanding from start to finish.

The film is not a hardcore spy-action thriller, but it sure does bring the intensity to the picture even with minimal fight scenes for you to enjoy. It's more on talk and dialogues, but we never felt bored and loved every single scene of the entire movie. The cinematography was simply outstanding, and the actors brought their A-game and really got the audience pumped up for 124 minutes.

Brad Pitt was tremendous and delivered what exactly Director Robert Zemeckis ordered from him. He is an actor full of charisma and shows a lot of affection to his leading lady who made the whole film believable. Marion Cotillard is alluring all throughout. She is just a terrific actress, and we will not be surprised if she earns another nomination for this role.

Overall, Allied was just fantastic from start to finish. I never felt so much pain and excitement in a film that is full of talkies with a little action. Pitt and Cottilard were simply on top of their game and really connected well with their audience. This is a must-watch movie and one of my personal favorite films from this year.
