Sausage Party: Movie Review

By: Matt Suzara

Every single day when the lights come on and the door sign says open, all the foods of Shopwell's supermarket start their daily routine song hoping that the Gods will finally choose them to go into the great beyond. When sausage Frank (Seth Rogen) and his girlfriend bun Brenda (Kristen Wiig) gets chosen, the two gets separated from the others and got out of their packages. Disappointed and distraught, the two decided to march on and return to their shelves but when Frank discovers the truth about the great beyond; he must need to find a way to tell everyone about the lies and save everyone from being slaughtered.

We knew that the film is R-18, but we really didn't expect the profanity content of this animated film. The jokes are clearly a hit or miss but when it connects to the audience, it will surely make you burst into laughter, especially on the last part. Pixar started this kind of theme with toys that have feelings in Toy Story or what do our pets do when we are not home in The Secret Life of Pets. And this time, Sausage Party transports us into the same dimension with talking foods but giving the adults more than they can ask for.

The story was amusing and its fun to see something original out of the crowded Hollywood mainstreams which is filled with reboots and unnecessary sequels. It is also spells out a lot of fun with some of the ideas will simply stick to you for the rest of the night. There are a lot of talents on the film with terrific voice cast powering the lively characters on the screen. Seth Rogen clearly do the things he does best in providing a decent R-comedy we all deserve. He is backed up with a tremendous set of stars that we didn't recognized like Edward Norton's Sammy Bagel Jr.

Overall, Sausage Party is an entertaining R-comedy animated flick. It may have a few bumps and scratches from here to there, but you simply can't take away the outstanding effort they made to come up with a dope film like this one. They may have went a little too far in some of the scenes, but we enjoyed it and probably that is the highlight of the entire party.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 8 out of 10 stars
