Star Trek Beyond: Movie Review

By: Matt Suzara

Captain Kirk and his crew are off to this newest rescue mission but unfortunately before the USS Enterprise reaches their destination; they were ambushed by an army led by Krall (Idris Elba). Their ship went down on an unfamiliar territory, and the crew is separated from each other. Soon, Captain Kirk must figure a way to reunite his crew, assemble ship and defeat a force which has a violent plan that can cause havoc all across the galaxy.

The reinvented Star Trek franchise was revived by J.J.Abrams with two amazing installments but now Justin Lin took the torch, and somehow we got a fresh third entry that will surely bring a delight to a lot of Trekkies. The newest entry "Beyond" was simply astonishing filled with jaw-dropping intergalactic space adventure backed up with tremendous eye-popping visuals that are best seen in IMAX 3D.  It is fun and thrilling at the same time special thanks to Simon Pegg and Doug Jung in penning the script.

The film is filled with tons of fun and will definitely make you glued on to your seat. It had a warm reception from the audience last night as we all cheered and screamed our hearts out with some of the best scenes and quite sad to know that this will be the final time we would see Anton Yelchin inside the fleet.

The whole cast delivers to make the entire film spectacular. Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto already embraced their characters and stand out on their own. Karl Urban and Simon Pegg delivered some of the best comedic moments throughout while John Cho, Zoe Saldana and Anton Yelchin round up Captain Kirk's dynamic crew. Sofia Boutella is a welcome addition and once again Idris Elba was great doing his assignment.

Overall, Star Trek Beyond is another enjoyable entry to this series. For me, it may not be the best one for this franchise but sure did the trick in providing another spectacular entertaining space adventure.
