Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (Movie Review)

By: Matt Suzara

New York City once again is in jeopardy when Shredder (Brian Tee) escaped and strikes a deal with an alien named Krang from another dimension. Shredder needs to complete the parts of a device made by Baxter Stockman (Tyler Perry) to open a portal for Krang to enter the Earth and unleash his ultimate weapon for mass destruction. The turtles must come up with a plan in order to stop the onslaught but must need to settle their differences aside and work as a team.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:  Out of the Shadows is basically the same thing with the same formula used from the past film. There is nothing new about it but there are some few characters to inject energy to this franchise. I love the inclusion of Bebop and Rocksteady because I have them as my toys when I was a kid. There is also disgusting-looking Krang to join in the mix and Casey Jones to balance it all up.

The action sequences are numbing at times but still its enjoyable, especially when Michelangelo starts to crack up some jokes. It is also fast-paced, and everything seems to go smoothly if you just embrace the silliness of the entire thing. Director Dave Green aimed to deliver some fun and yes; he managed to do that. The casts were pretty up to the challenge from the energetic voice cast that gave life to the turtles and some steady performances from Megan Fox, Will Arnett, Tyler Perry and Stephen Amell.

Overall, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows will not win many hearts, but it simply succeeds  to deliver some "Cowabunga" turtle action for its loyal fans. If you like its predecessor ,there is no reason for you to skip this sequel, but if you hated the first one, you'll hate this one even more.
