Central Intelligence: Movie Review

By: Matt Suzara

Bob Stone (Dwayne Johnson) is a secret CIA agent who grew up as a fat kid and getting bullied in high school. The only friend he knew is accountant, Calvin Joyner (Kevin Hart) who once helped him get out of total humiliation. They finally met again after twenty years, where Bob asks for the help of Calvin to fix some payroll issues, but it turns out that Bob is working on a secret mission, and all things seem pretty messed up. Soon, the two needs to work together as a team to finish the mission and clear their names before its too late.

Central Intelligence succeeds because of the perfect comedic duo of Hart and Johnson. They both know how to deliver the comedy in time as they compliment each other even they have a messy script to work with. They just seem to enjoy what they are doing and make a perfect tandem that can easily sell because both stars are likable and charming.

Finally, Kevin Hart managed to be on his old-self again in providing those solid punch lines which made the audience laugh with their hearts out. Dwayne Johnson also is pretty cool in making fun out of himself, especially as the fat kid who knows how to bust some moves. As for the story, it is a little messed up, but it is okay as the two lead stars made the most out of the comedy push through exactly when it needs to.

Overall, Central Intelligence is a good buddy comedy that offers great laughs in its almost two hours of run time. You'll simply enjoy the lead stars do their thing and forget the flaws of the entire movie.
