The Angry Birds Movie: (Movie Review)

By: Matt Suzara

Red (Jason Sudekis) is a misfit among his kind and after an emotional outburst, he is sent to partake in daily anger management sessions. From there he meets super-fast Chuck (Josh Gad) and the explosive Bomb (Danny McBride) and tough bird Terrence (Sean Penn). However, when the piggies arrived led by Leonard (Bill Hader), Red knew that there is something fishy with their friendship intentions. Soon, the piggies reveal their true color and stole away the eggs from the birds, and it's up to Red to find a way and save the day.

At first, I thought that the release of this film is kinda late since the game isn't that popular unlike before. However, with the movie having striking visuals and surprisingly charming characters; its quite a treat for everyone who simply wants to enjoy an entertaining animated film. The story was just quite forced, and juicy bits were mostly delivered on the latter part. And, there are some really hilarious moments, especially the one which involves the lake of wisdom and the mighty eagle.

The voice casts were outstanding in giving life to the colorful characters. Jason Sudekis suited perfectly for Red while the very witty Josh Gad gives his 100 percent in playing motor mouth Chuck. We also got Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Bill Hader and Peter Dinklage, who made their characters stand out.

Overall, The Angry Birds Movie manages to pull off the stunt and avoided a disaster fall. It's now a waiting game, whether the film will garner enough viewers and ramp-up a box-office success. I just hope that it will turn out good for them as Red and his crew deserves a much-improved sequel.
