The Jungle Book (2016) : Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Mowgli (Neel Sethi) is a young boy lived in the jungle and was raised by a pack of wolves led by Akela (Giancarlo Esposito) and Raksha (Lupita Nyong'o). However, he is forced to flee his home after a vicious tiger named Shere Khan (Idris Elba) threatens his life. Guided by Bagheera (Ben Kingsley), Mowgli needs to go to the man-village before Shere Khan finds him and take him down for good.

After the recent success of Cinderella last year, Disney brought back another beloved tale now coming from the pages of Rudyard Kipling's book and creates another live-action adaption of The Jungle Book. Honestly, we are not excited to see this film as we are getting tired of remakes we are getting in our cinema. However, the new Jungle Book is an eye-opener as the first sequence alone was already quite a visual treat. The CG effects was really majestic as we are transported inside the heart of the jungle that feels so real, its seems that everything is true, including the animals who are exceptionally voiced by an outstanding set of talented actors.

Jon Favreau's work is incredibly spectacular in every aspect. He just made everything detailed and lively that you wouldn't ask for more. Every scene is just like opening a bag of chocolates that when you start one bite, it's too hard for you to stop. It also helped that The Jungle Book is composed of a stellar voice cast that gave life to the characters we've loved before. Giancarlo Esposito, Lupita Nyong'o, Christopher Walken and Scarlett Johansson were all tremendous with their roles, but it was Ben Kingsley's Bagheera, and Bill Murray's Baloo stood out most of the time. We also don't want to forget Idris Elba's Shere Khan who's been an effective and terrifying villain.

Newcomer Neel Sethialso also made a mark. It is clear that he is having some fun while doing it and embracing the role as Mowgli. The film is just incredibly stunning. We can't express our happiness after we've seen the film last night in IMAX 3D. It was just splendid throughout and possibly one of the contenders for our best film this year.

Overall, The Jungle Book is a breathtaking and overwhelming cinematic experience. Reliving the classic masterpiece at its finest. It is highly recommended for the whole family to enjoy and best to be seen in 3D.
