Captain America: Civil War (Movie Review)

By: Matt Suzara

After their latest mission that unfortunately killed some innocent civilians, The Avengers is called by the Secretary of the State and come up with an accord that will make them accountable to the United Nations with their actions.  Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), together Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Rhodey (Don Cheadle), and Vision (Paul Bettany) signed while others led by Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) disagree with it. Meanwhile, somebody frames up Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) for a bomb killing the King of Wakanda and Captain America isn't sold, believing that his friend is innocent. Soon, as further complications are being revealed, The Avengers are divided and each member needs to pick a side.

After months of teasing, picking sides, and tons of speculations - We already had the chance to watch Captain America: Civil War last night at SM Megamall. We expected an explosive film and thankfully; the Russo brothers didn't disappoint and delivered the film in a tremendous fashion. It may have come to a point that you would ask how can they justify each character on the screen because there are simply too many superheroes in it, and still they manage to stun the audience with their brilliant delivery. But what makes this film stand-out among all the Marvel films is the fact that there are a lot more risks involved. It's not just about saving the world from alien invaders but settling different beliefs against your friends.

As what you've already seen in the trailer, there are a lot of spectacular fight scenes. I don't want to spoil anything, but it's just simply breathtaking to see this on the big screen. It is choreographed well, with each hero having time to shine and the face-offs were sensational. Choosing sides is extremely difficult as we love both parties, and they obviously have a lot of surprises under their sleeves.

Well as for the cast, they simply nailed everything in place. Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. and the rest of the crew were just enjoying the entire thing. Newcomers Tom Holland and Chadwick Boseman were both amazing as Spiderman and Black Panther respectively. The whole cast was simply outstanding and fun in every way.

Overall, Captain America: Civil War is the most spectacular Marvel film up to date. It has the total package, from the stunning fight scenes up to the brilliant drama which successfully creates a monumental ensemble of superheroes sharing the screen in one film. Civil War will not waste a single peso of your hard-earned money as it is an exciting and thrilling superhero film created for all ages.
