10 Cloverfield Lane: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

The film begins with Michelle (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) breaking up with her husband. While driving down the road, she is caught in a car accident and wakes up chained on a pipe underneath a remote shelter. Howard, (John Goodman) the owner of the house told her that he saved her life as the world is under attack, and the air is contaminated. Howard, Michelle and another survivor Emmett (John Gallagher Jr.) must stay put together for years until the toxic clears off. However, Michelle isn't sure if Howard is telling the truth, and soon she must find some answers to a lot of questions swirling in her mind.

10 Cloverfield Lane is a brilliant claustrophobic thriller that is definitely worth checking out. It is just shot in a single location with three characters hanging around, and inside that small scale awaits a bigger picture as the whole thing has a lot of tricks inside the bag of mystery. It slowly builds the tension and might test your patience for a while, but after you get lured to the concept; it will leave you electrified and thrilled the entire time.

The actors really played well as John Goodman delivers a fascinating performance. He just brought his A-game and came out strong in providing the depth into his role. Mary Elizabeth Winstead is also terrific. You can see it in her eyes that she is well determined and eager to find the truth in order to survive.

Overall, 10 Cloverfield Lane effectively sells the gripping mystery through the first half as it cleverly builds the tension all the way to bring in a spectacular and thrilling finish.
