Star Na Si Van Damme Stallone: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Nadia (Candy Pangilinan) is a single mom trying to raise her son Vanvan ( Paolo Pingol and Jadford Dilanco) who has a Down Syndrome. At first, she was hesitant to keep the child but Nadia gave all the attention the child needed and supports him in every way. The story follows Vanvan and Nadia for two decades of love, sacrifice and the dream that Vanvan always wanted - to be a star.

We are indeed lucky enough to see a local film that is entirely different from the same mainstream movies we always get every month inside our cinemas. The film really had a lot of heart as it tackles the hardships of a family who is taking the challenge of the down syndrome. I admire the filmmakers' effort in creating this movie and how passionately they lend their time to make this film possible.  Despite the sensitive idea of the whole picture, it showed us a much lighter side of the overall premise and gave heartwarming moments all throughout.

I haven't seen the other entries in this year's festival, but Candy Pangilinan is really a strong candidate for winning the Best Actress Award. You can see the authenticity with her performance as you can feel the motherly love and the difficulties she is into raising her special child. Paolo Pingol and Jadford Dilanco shined in this film. They showed that their disabilities didn't matter as they can rule and show that they can be a star.

Overall, Star Na Si Van Damme Stallone tells an inspiring story that really is moving and uplifting. It is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece that is a must-see in cinemas. Kudos to everyone in making this movie, and I hope that it will have a wide release soon.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 8.5 out of 10 stars
