Our Brand is Crisis: Movie Review

 By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Jane Bodine (Sandra Bullock) is one of the best campaign strategists but opted to rest her case inside a rustic cabin making pots. However, she tries to come back into the picture when she is hired to take in charge of the campaign of Senator Castillo (Joaquim de Almeida) who is running for the presidency in Bolivia. She tries to redeem herself and end the drought against her rival Pat Candy (Billy Bob Thorton) who is the opposition's political consultant.

The film has an interesting premise where campaign strategist tries their best to pull out some tricks behind their sleeves in order for their clients to win. Election is really a big subject to tackle and the film barely gets deeper into details. However, we love the humor incorporated throughout to make the film lighter and avoids being tedious.

We also got outstanding lead stars tries hard to make the political battle a bit more engaging. Sandra Bullock is a perfect choice to fit the role as she managed to come out with a steady performance as she battles it out with an equally great Billy Bob Thorton. It's just fun to see this two fight with their egos and personal issues on the line making it more compelling than the presidential battle. The supporting cast adds more charm with the likes of Anthony Mackie, Scoot McNairy, Ann Dowd, and Zoe Kazan controlling the film's pace.

Overall, Our Brand is Crisis is an entertaining political drama that relies heavily on its outstanding cast. It mildly shows how dirty the politics can be. They just choose to play safe even there are more issues that can be tackled along the way.
