Alvin and The Chipmunks: Road Chip (Movie Review)

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

The chipmunks are on a break with their busy recording schedules to enjoy their childhood while Dave (Jason Lee) has a hot new surgeon girlfriend (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) who has a nasty son, Miles (Josh Green). They will both leave for a romantic trip to Miami and will leave Miles and the chipmunks' home alone for the weekend and bond. However, they won't get along together and when they realize that their parents might be getting married. Soon, they embark upon a trip to Miami to stop the proposal before its too late.

This is the fourth film in this franchise and Alvin plus the rest of his crew is back to deliver another series of musical numbers and harmful comedy that young kids will enjoy. We really didn't expected much since the franchise is really getting nowhere and already tired with its repetitive formula. However, you can't simply deny that they still had the charm and can carry the entire film even with a silly premise.

Alvin, Simon and Theodore can still make youngsters laugh with their painless jokes but might test the patience of some adults who hate shallow slapstick comedy. For us, we still had a fun time dealing with these cute little rodents and sang along with some of their new renditions. Jason Lee carries brings the same-old Dave back, and the new cast members bring enough fuel to maintain the whole course energized. New comer Josh Green was pretty good and the new goofball villain Tony Hale also came up with a wacky performance.

Overall, Alvin and The Chipmunks : Road Chip is a slight upgrade to their previous installment. We might be getting the same-old formula, but you can't simply ignore that they still got what it takes to bring good few laughs.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 6.5 out of 10 stars
