All You Need is Pag-Ibig: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

All You Need is Pag-ibig is a mix of different stories that intertwined in one film. Star Cinema has offered the same formula before and with Director Antoinette Jadaone's touch, their newest offering sailed smoothly while  producing enjoyable pairings and wonderful love stories to tell in one film.

The film revolves around different individuals who are trying to find the meaning of love. While some of them tries to hold on and wanted to ignite the lost spark in their ailing relationship; some try to forget the past and just move-on. There are also some people who can't find peace and still wait even they know the fact that it is just hard to day dream and wait for the person that won't really care anymore. Some are scared and try to fall in love because of certain issues with the past that is really hard to forget. However, when love struck, it is really difficult to control the emotions, especially if you know in your heart that he/she is the one.

While some of the stories worked, the others needed more time to dig deeper to make it a bit more interesting. Every story can stand on its own especially the pairing between Jodi Sta Maria and Ian Veneracion. I think that they deserve to have a film of their own, as the two effortlessly brought the house down. The two is simply charming to watch as the crowd always reacted in each scene that they are into. We also like the Kim Chiu and Xian Lim pairing. It may be the typical rom-com for the both of them, but they are just simply fun to watch.

The Nova Villa and Ronaldo Valdez segment were pretty good too and gave out one of the most memorable scenes in the entire film.  Pokwang and the kids didn't hold enough ground while Derek Ramsey and Kris Aquino can't seem to jive and gel because of the short material they have.

Overall, All You Need is Pag-Ibig is one of the best entries in this year's festival. It has a star-studded cast and talented director to keep the momentum running all throughout. It has fascinating stories that can hold the whole thing despite its minor flaws. But the Jodi and Ian team is enough for us to like this film more.
