Victor Frankenstein (2015): Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Igor Strausman (Daniel Radcliffe) is a hunchback who is the center of attraction to be humiliated in front of a big crowd in the circus every night. Behind his disastrous look is a big heart and a gifted mind which was discovered by a radical scientist Victor Frankenstein (James McAvoy) who takes him under his wing. With Victor bringing a new life to Igor, the two shares a striking vision and prepare for the grandest discovery that can change the fate of humanity.

The film features a reinvented tale of Mary Shelley's novel who gets another brand-new twist in the latest Victor Frankenstein. This time around Victor is played by no other than by James McAvoy, who shined and gave out a strong performance. He provided the spark and leveled up the insanity of the mad scientist who wanted to pursue his dark creation. McAvoy made Victor a character to remember not only for his creation but also as a maker of the ferocious monster. Daniel Radcliffe also injects new life to our beloved Igor, who had a complete make-over and played major minutes to make the entire thing entertaining. He managed to stay within striking distance to McAvoy, who constantly runs the whole show.

As for the story, it isn't scary, but it had some thrilling bits to play around it's talented actors who are just having some fun while they're filming it. The effects were also pretty decent but our monster clearly lacks some screen time to create more adrenaline rush to the viewers. The monster design is also terrible and weak. Other than that, the film is pretty clever and definitely an enjoyable Frankenstein themed movie released from the past few years.

Overall, Victor Frankenstein stands on its own in reinventing the classic novel into an adventurous adaptation. James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe did the trick perfectly in making this film engaging and a satisfying treat for avid moviegoers.
