Sicario:Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Kate Macer (Emily Blunt) is a DEA agent who is a specialist in kidnapping cases. In one of her latest missions, she leads her team into a suburban house in Phoenix thinking that they could rescue someone from a drug kingpin. Instead, they only discovered dozen of rotting bodies hidden behind the walls. This case leads her to be recruited by a CIA agent, Matt Graver (Josh Brolin), who tracks down a Mexican drug lord. Soon, Kate finds herself struggling with her new environment and can't seem to find her role, especially with  a mysterious Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro) secretly running the whole show.

Sicario is tagged as one of the best films released this year, and finally I had the chance to see it last night. I am excited to see Emily Blunt since she went into a full bad-ass mode in Edge of Tomorrow last year. She came out strong with another back-breaking performance proving that she is a force to be reckoned with. Benicio Del Toro effortlessly plays his character on the right track and gratefully delivers. While Josh Brolin gave a titillating performance who solidifies the A-list cast.

Denis Villeneuve skillfully filled this film with brilliance and made sure that it will leave a mark to his viewers. He proves that he is one of the finest directors today as he creates a gripping thriller and slowly burns the tension with a powerful direction. The musical score adds up more pressure just like your heart thumping that wants to get out of your chest, and the cinematography was definitely outstanding from start to finish.

Overall, Sicario is one of the finest works made by Director Denis Villeneuve. It just came out a bit short as we are looking for more out of this masterpiece. But with this caliber of filmmaking, I should keep my mouth shut and just learn to appreciate.
