Goosebumps: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette) relocates from New York to Madison, Delaware because his mom (Amy Ryan) accepted a job as a high school vice-principal. He isn't too happy leaving their place until he met the beautiful girl-next-door, Hannah (Odeya Rush) who has an over-protective father (Jack Black) who turns out to be the famous author R.L. Stein. Soon, while Zach tries to help Hannah to escape from his father, he accidentally unlocked a book that contains the monsters Stein has created. With the likes of  Abominable Snowman of Pasadena and Werewolf of Fever Swamp, terrorizing the town, Zach and company must find a way to capture the monsters back in the book where it belongs.

Goosebumps has never been scary and with all that imaginative stories of different creatures; it made me a fan since I was a little kid. I enjoyed watching the series on TV because of the entertainment factor it brings. With a featured film set to be released next week, we are definitely one of the 90's kids who is so excited to see this flick.

After watching the special preview last weekend, Goosebumps definitely hasn't lost its touch when it comes in providing an engaging story. We still feel the magic of the pages of the books R.L. Stein created while watching this movie. It brings a nostalgic feeling with all the monsters joining forces in one spectacular adventure flick that your family shouldn't miss.

The cast is pretty fun and interesting at the same time. Jack Black is perfect as R.L. Stein as he provides so much energy to the character and incorporates him with emphatic facial expressions. He also managed to generate some good laughs when he delivers comedy skills. Dylan Minnette was fine while Odeya Rush was simply stunning as she looked like a younger version of Mila Kunis.

Overall, Goosebumps is like a tamer and a wacky version of Cabin in the Woods. R.L. Stein and his monsters still provides loads of fun not only through the pages of the books but also on the big screen.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 8.5 out of 10 stars
