The Intern: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Ben Whittaker (Robert De Niro) is a 70-year-old retiree and a widower who wants to try everything because he has a lot of spare time. He wants to get out of his daily routine and a flyer accepting senior interns may be is just the answer. Luckily, he was accepted to the program and was assigned under an online clothing company run by an overworked Jules Ostin (Anne Hathaway). Ben tries to cope with the youth work and tries to adjust to his surroundings while Jules is hesitant to take him under her wings. Soon, the two got along together with Ben providing the much-needed help and carry the load out of Jules back.

The Intern is definitely worth seeing on the big screen. It got the heart, the charm and surprises coming from Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway, who both enjoyably run the whole show. The two basically compliment each other with Robert De Niro showing his versatility and experience while Anne Hathaway provides the sincerity of her character making them a perfect tandem.

It shows that beyond everyone's success has a corresponding price; where a workaholic Jules had too much commitment making it difficult for her to have time with her family. Ben obviously is a likable guy, as it is easy for us to love his personality. He is smart, charming and basically have a lot of experience built around his legacy. The two is just simply fun to watch as the film never had a dull moment even the film has a two-hour run-time.

Overall, The Intern is a compelling feel-good film with notable performances from its charismatic lead stars. It is another excellent flick coming from writer-director Nancy Meyers that you shouldn't miss on the big screen.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 9 out of 10 stars
