Exeter: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Patrick (Kelly Blatz), his younger brother Rory (Michael Ormsby) and his friends decided to hold a party in an abandoned asylum that is known for the terrifying treatment of its patients. Just for fun, they decided to a perform a levitation ritual with Rory, but it went off as an evil spirit possessed his body. Soon, they must find a way to defeat the demonic spirit to save Rory and a way out for them to survive.

Exeter can't seem to decide what horror platform it would use for the whole duration of the movie. It shifts from possession to exorcism to psycho killers, etc., etc. that doesn't hold up in the long run. Awful horror movies always have ridiculous characters that do a stupid decision every time. Instead of calling the cops or planning to escape the premises these guys make idiotic ideas like perform a DIY exorcism with the help on an online site. To make a little worse, they shuffle the story once more and revealed a twist in the finale that is barely acceptable.

The film is directed by Marcus Nispel, who also directed my favorite horror movie of all time Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It is such a disappointment as he can't seem to deliver the thrills that we've been expecting. Yet, into his credit the blood and brutality shapes up in some scenes but doesn't save the entire film from sinking.

Overall, Exeter is an official candidate for the worst horror movie of the year. It's a complete waste of time and a dreadful way to spend your money.
