Sex Ed: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

First, we would like to thank Solar Pictures PH for inviting us last night  to the special screening of Sex Ed at Robinsons Galleria. Free snacks were given away to the guests plus cool games are held before the movie started where a lot of people walked home with freebies on their hands. Premiere Vixens Kookai and Min are also present to complete our night.

We last saw Haley Joel Osment playing as a douche millionaire in Entourage and we all know that he is the child star behind A.I. Artificial Intelligence and even earning an Oscar nomination for his performance in The Sixth Sense. Now Osment plays as Ed Cole, a professor who teaches Sex Ed to middle school but the only problem is that Ed is a virgin and never had a sexual experience of his own.

Ed (Haley Joel Osment) feels that nothing positive is coming on his way. He doesn't have a decent job or a girlfriend to spend his time with. His desperation leads him to accept an after school program to teach a bunch of kids with a sensitive but relevant topic "Sex Ed" However, one parent Reverend Hamilton (Chris Williams) thinks that his subject is inappropriate and wants to shut his program down. Soon, Ed must find a way to prove that Sex Ed is important, and he also needs to boost up his confidence in order to win the heart of the older sister of his student named Pilar (Lorenza Izzo).

Unlike other R-18 films, Sex Ed stood on its ground in bringing in mild comedy without any offensive material. Infusing life into the film is its main star Haley Joel Osment, who is believable as a virgin who doesn't have any experience and a guy who certainly lacked confidence. He plays his character well, managing to handle each scene with care. Osment is also surrounded with a charming set of supporting cast, including Retta, Lorenza Izzo, and Glen Powell.

Overall, Sex Ed is a fun film with solid narrative and talented actors who deliver the goods of the whole premise.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 6.5 out of 10 stars
