Ant-Man: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) just came out of prison and finding a job seems hard because of his records. It's even more difficult as he is prohibited to see his daughter because he is unable to pay child support. Soon, he was forced to join another heist but in the end, he just came home with a strange suit. He learns that this suit makes him shrink and the owner of it Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) offered him a deal to redeem himself for the sake of his daughter. He just needs to steal another suit from a secured facility run by his former protege Daren Cross (Corey Stoll) who is in the verge of cracking Hank's formula and selling it to the wrong people who might use the advanced technology into a catastrophe.

Honestly, we are not excited to see Ant-Man. We lowered our expectations since the day they got Paul Rudd as its lead star. We really can't imagine how could a tiny superhero fair up onto the big screen and what can he offer besides of being small and his cool costume. All of our doubts and thoughts are a big slap on our faces when saw it last night in 3D. Well, Ant-Man is the real deal; he might be small but provides a solid impact throughout making it our third best Marvel film behind The Guardians of Galaxy and The Avengers.

The whole film was simply entertaining and funny thanks to its likable actors. Paul Rudd proves that he deserves the spot. He injects life to the tiny man and filled it with charisma like what Chris Pratt did with Star Lord. It's always a good thing to see a comedian plays as a superhero as they fully embrace their role; kudos to Paul Rudd for doing it excellently. Michael Douglas was terrific playing Hank Pym while Evangeline Lilly shines even with a limited material thrown into her. Corey Stoll is a perfect fit as the villain while Micheal Peña is a very welcome addition and the scene stealer most of the time.

Overall, Ant-Man is the funniest and one of the best Marvel movie in its cinematic universe. Ant-Man proves that he belongs and can carry his own flag to join the heavyweights. It's just simply entertaining and a film you can't afford to miss on the big screen.
