The Voices: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Jerry (Ryan Reynolds) got a new job in a bathroom company and seems to be just another ordinary employee. There he meets a very attractive girl from the accounting department named Fiona (Gemma Arterton.) He tries to ask her for a dinner date but didn't turn out the way he expected and adding to his woes is he accidentally killed Fiona. Seeking for some advice in what to do, he turns to his cat Mr. Whiskers and dog Bosco on which path to take: to do good things or play with the dark side.

The film is just plainly weird, but it manages to get our attention the entire time. The conversations between him and his pets were funny. It seems like a cartoonish take of a devil and angel telling him on what to do. Ryan Reynolds is just simply remarkable playing a mentally ill person who tries to avoid his medication so he can escape reality. He does it with charm and provides us with a superb performance, one of his best actually. Gemma Arterton and Anna Kendrick added depth to the cast, but it was mostly Reynolds, who made this movie work.

Overall, The Voices is funny, sweet, gory and crazily effective all at the same time. It is a disturbing but an enjoyable take on a person's level of insanity.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 7.5 out of 10 stars
