Last Knights: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Commander Raiden (Clive Owen) the leader of the seventh battalion was once rescued by Lord Bartok (Morgan Freeman) from alcoholism has pledged that his skills belong to his kingdom. When the Emperor (Peyman Moaadi) requested Bartok's presence to the capital for a meeting, it turned out ugly as his advisor Gezza Mott (Aksel Hennie) humiliates him, which led to a standoff. With Bartok helpless against the power of the corrupt leaders he is forced to make an ultimate sacrifice for his people and Raiden must carry the burden and seek vengeance for his master.

Last Knights features two amazing actors in Academy Award Nominee Clive Owen and Academy Award Winner Morgan Freeman. Clive Owen is pretty convincing in leading a much smaller version of Keanu Reeves' 47 Ronin. However, the film has nothing new to offer and mostly bogged down by cliches. It also a long and the pacing was a bit dragging at times. The enjoyable scenes can only be seen in the latter part with average choreographed sword fights.

Overall, Last Knights didn't turn out entertaining as we predicted. It simply lacks a lot of things in order to be memorable. Clive Owen and Morgan Freeman can do much better than this, but the film didn't allow them to reach their potential. It is just frustrating to see these compelling stars do some uninspiring work.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 4.5 out of 10 stars

I know it seems popular to hate on this film, but I enjoyed it and like the cast. I rooted for the good guys and absolutely loathe the villain so much, I'd like to have words with the actor in real life.
