Just The Way You Are: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Drake (Enrique Gil) is a popular guy in his school loses a bet to his best friend Andrei (Yves Flores.) His task is simple; he needs to make a nerdy transferee Sophia (Liza Soberano) fall in love with him within 30 days. After she says yes, he needs to tell her that it was all a bet. The punishment looks too simple because of Drake's natural charm in school but Sophia isn't that type of girl who can easily fall in love.

After the successful run of their Teleserye hit "Forevermore," the rising love-team of "LizQuen" is back now on the big screen with Star Cinema's latest offering "Just the Way You Are." Well, it's another typical romantic-comedy mainstream full of cliches and recycled scenes coming from their previous films. It was also ruined by ridiculous product endorsement that is forced to be included. Yet, they still practice this kind of thing and make their project senseless. Imagine the hate every time we see commercial ads instead of trailers before the start of each film.

As for it's lead stars; they deserve a better script and despite the silliness of their material; they still manage to make the film enjoyable to watch. In fairness to Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano, they did it with utmost effort and charm even it has a messy plot. Enrique Gil already found his true partner, and Liza is done settling from a third party to a fine young actress improving in every project she has. We also would like to mention Sue Ramirez as she is just so pretty in each scene.

Overall, "Just The Way You Are" is passable yet Star Cinema needs to overhaul their formula and give the audience something new. It is still a lot of fun thanks to its cast but too predictable and terrible end part. Lastly, too much make-up ruins it, especially if it's a pink lipstick on your male lead star.

Lakwastera Lovers rates it 6.5 out of 10 stars
