Insidious Chapter III: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Quinn (Stefanie Scott), thinks that her mother is trying to contact her from the other side. However, she learns that it isn't her mother but a dark spirit that wants her soul dragged into the it's lair. To solve her problem, they seek help from psychic Elise (Lin Shaye), who already stopped using her skill because of the danger it causes in her life. But when, Quinn life is already in jeopardy, Elise must find a way to overcome her fears and enter into the Further to face the wicked force threatening Quinn.

It is already the third installment of this horror franchise, but the series settles to offer a prequel that takes place before the haunting of the Lambert family. If you loved the first two films, it's pretty much the same thing. With the film relying on typical jump scares, but they are still effective. The only thing that ruined it was the annoying attention seekers inside the cinema who constantly shout or scream without any reason.

With a whole new set of cast, it was still Lin Shaye, who delivered throughout. She continues to be the life of this franchise and the heart and soul of this chapter. It's just nice to see her handle the pressure and managed to bring a strong performance out of it. We love that they still included the two paranormal wannabes Leigh Whannell ,who also directed the film and his goofy assistant Angus Sampson, who provided the humor. And yes, you will surely agree that Stefanie Scott is gorgeous; an actress we look forward to seeing more in the upcoming years.

Overall, Insidious Chapter III still got the same formula that made this franchise successful. It is dark, creepy and had quality scares throughout. It's already on its third week and still the theater last weekend was almost full so don't be left out and rush into the theaters venture to the further.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 9 out of 10 stars

Cast: Stefanie Scott, Lin Shaye, Dermot Mulroney

Directed by: Leigh Whannell
Distributed by: Columbia Pictures PH
Now on it's 3rd week
