Pitch Perfect 2: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

The "Picthes" are back, now handled by first-time director Elizabeth Banks who also reprises her role in the movie. The Cappella Barden Bellas tries to replicate the same formula from its predecessor and make it another phenomenal hit.

The Barten Bellas are the three-time defending, national champions and their latest show will be on the Lincoln Center to perform in front of the President. However, an accidental "full-frontal" wardrobe malfunction causes them to earn a sanction and be banned from joining another competition in the country. In order to get reinstated, the Bellas must compete and win in the World Championships of A Cappella where no American group won the title.

Sequels tend to be a great disappointment for some films as it fails to bring justice to its predecessor. But with Pitch Perfect 2, everything seems to hold up in place and cause the same result as the first one. The rivalries between boys and girls (The Treblemakers VS The Bellas) are upgraded with a much better competitor in European champs "Das Sound Machine." Where-in you'll simply enjoy their impressive cover songs and of course the trash talking.

The cast provides another solid impact to the film's beauty. Anna Kendrick shows why she is always the perfect fit in musical films. She is consistently on cue and delivers each time. New Bella Hailee Steinfeld is a welcome addition to an already sweet cast while Rebel Wilson manages to duplicate her comedic performance that made her a fan favorite in the first one.

Overall, Pitch Perfect 2 is a great example that sequels isn't always bad after all. We still prefer the first film but with just a slight margin because we already loved the songs in it. There are a lot of special numbers in here notably the Christmas song mash-up of Snoop Dogg and Anna Kendrick plus the finale "Flashlight" performance of the Bellas. Pitch Perfect 2 retained its charms and still excellent in providing entertainment.

Pitch Perfect 3 Please!!!

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 9.5 out of 10 stars

I have to say that I never thought it needed a sequel and it's not perfect but still enjoyable. Even if it's unnecessary.
