Mad Max Fury Road: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

We often do this, but we watched the first three Mad Max films just in time for the special preview of Fury Road last night. The trailer is already extravagant, one of the best trailer we've seen in a long while, and it was a concern, whether they spilled a lot of good scenes but we were dead wrong. Director George Miller returns to helm this classic series and Mel Gibson eventually passing the torch to Tom Hardy to set a potential new franchise.

Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy), was taken as a prisoner in Citadel run by Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne, who played villain Toecutter in the original Mad Max.) He finds himself joining forces with Imperatos Furiosa (Chalize Theron) who is running away with Immortan Joe's Five Wivesand find their way to the green place. However, getting there isn't easy as they need to survive against Immortan's manic War Boys, who are chasing them all across the dessert Waste Land.

It's been three decades since the last Mad Max film graced into the big screen with Beyond Thunderdome and what a way to bring it back to life here in Fury Road. George Miller keeps the fire burning, and the intensity never fades right from the get go. He combined his classic formula with the technology today and vastly keeps the whole film exhilarating. At first, we were quite unsure with the outcome as we might get exhausted with it, but we never felt any signs and even wanted a bit more after the two-hour run time.

Tom Hardy is an admirable replacement for Mel Gibson. He is charismatic and a worthy torch bearer as the new Max Rockatansky. However, he is out shined by the terrific performance by Charlize Thereon who manage to bring a lot of fire power in her character. The two simply allows themselves to have fun while doing the film and gave justice to their roles. We also loved the addition of Nicholas Hoult, who is almost unrecognizable as a War Boy who brought a lot more color to the picture.

Overall, Mad Max Fury: Road is a crazy post-apocalyptic flick that manages to bring heart-pounding scenes and jaw-dropping moments throughout the entire movie. It is a bedazzling feature from start to finish. A stunning masterpiece that is visually breathtaking. It is highly recommended and probably the best movie released so far this year.
