You're My Boss: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

After her solid hit "That Thing Called Tadhana," Director Antoinette Jadaone returns in romantic-comedy film "You're My Boss" starring Toni Gonzaga and Coco Martin. Finally, after a week of waiting, we had the time to see it last Sunday.

Georgina (Toni Gonzaga) is left by his boss (Freddie Webb) to take in charge with all the operations in their airline company while he is gone for a vacation. She is also told to work with his assistant Pong (Coco Martin) to help her but the two really had a hard time to get along with each other. Soon, Georgina had an important meeting to land a deal for the airline but when the client refuses to talk to her, Georgina told that Pong is the Boss. The two manage to pull out their act and they both needs to pretend a little longer and hopes to close out the deal.

The romantic-comedy formula of this film managed to bring out the best out of it lead stars. Toni Gonzaga has been always great when it comes her comedy antics. She knows how to deliver those punch-lines and effectively connects to her audience. Coco Martin, on the other hand, shows his versatility and keeps his energy at the same pace with Toni Gonzaga. The two provides the charm which made the whole film to be pleasant from start to finish.

The movie is really fun to watch with you just simply take a glimpse of the starts go to work and make some interesting conversations while they settle their issues in life. There are a lot of funny moments to enjoy and a great scenery in their Batanes setting.

Overall, You're My Boss settles to be simple and avoids to complicate the story. It didn't need to weave through different problems and just to end it quickly in a jiffy. The film actually gave a silly premise, but they executed properly to make it entertaining; well thanks to its appealing lead stars and a slick Director in Jadaone.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 8.5 out of 10 stars
