Crazy Beautiful You: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Crazy Beautiful You is the post-valentine offering brought to you by Star Cinema starring the most charming love-team in Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo. Following the success of She's Dating The Gangster last year, "Kathniel" aims to take one step forward and venture to a much mature role this time around.

Jackie (Kathryn Bernardo) is a problem child who is forced to join her mother (Lorna Tolentino) in a medical mission in Capas, Tarlac. In order to get a plane ticket and study in New York, she needs to finish her photography task in the Aeta village for one week. There she met the illegitimate son of the mayor Kiko (Daniel Padilla) who is tasked to look out for her in the duration of her stay. At first, Jackie seems not interested with all the activities but with Kiko's pursuance, she soon discovers how to forgive and forget about the past and start a new beginning.

They've both come a long way to finally get here. Kathryn Bernardo continues to impress. She gives enough depth to her character, and she always makes it look effortlessly. Daniel Padilla, on the other hand, enjoyably plays as Kiko in a much livelier manner as he gets out of his usual comfort zone. The two leads definitely share a palpable chemistry that easily captivates the viewers in every scene.

As for the story, the material is cliched and feels that it had been done before. There are a lot of problems that are solved instantly and seems uncooked which they could have explored more. The only good thing is, the actors manage to stage it perfectly, as they keep their connection to the viewers even it suffers from noticeable flaws. Other than that, it still entertaining no matter what as you can easily feel the emotions coming from its lead stars.

Overall, Crazy Beautiful You bring the best out of "Kathniel" which they played well even they are on mature roles. There are still a lot of kilig moments for the fans to enjoy, but we think it's about time for this two to have a kissing scene. Right?
