Wild: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Wild is based on Cheryl Strayed's 2012 memoir Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail. The film got two major recognitions on this year's Academy Awards with Reese Witherspoon, and Laura Dern earning a nomination for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress respectively.

Cheryl Strayed (Reese Witherspoon), who seems to lose everything after the painful death of her mom and dismissal of her marriage decides to embark for an incredible journey. She packs and hikes the Pacific Crest trail alonewhich runs over a thousand miles from California to Washington state. She  tries to find herself along the way while encountering different obstacles physically and mentally.

The film is just basically keeping up through the emotional journey of Cheryl Strayed played perfectly by Reese Witherspoon. We see her hiking through long distance trails with her large backpack. She walks through different refreshing scenery keeping her mental state at full focus. It is nice to see her stepping out of her comfort zone as we constantly see her depressed without makeup; very different Reese Witherspoon where we usually see her glamorous in her other films.

Overall, Wild is an instant masterpiece, and a well deserve nomination for Reese Witherspoon. However, the film comes to a point where it starts to get a little dull, which make it boring in the long run.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 6.5 out of 10 stars
