That Thing Called Tadhana: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Finally, we are able to see the film that spread like wild fire through social media tagged as "The Ultimate Hugot Movie of the Year." It is one of the entries last year at The Cinema Originals and now a Blockbuster hit in just two weeks with jam-packed and sold-out screenings.

Mace (Angelica Panganiban) is at the airport in Italy crying and throwing her excess baggage. It turned out that her eight-year relationship ended in one snap. In comes Anthony (JM de Guzman), who volunteered to get some of her stuff into his luggage. With Mace completely heartbroken, Anthony decides to stay with her for a while and listens to her story. Soon, as the two get to know each other, they have decided to take a little adventure of their own.

The film is really easy to follow as we just have two characters talking to each other. It is pretty boring if you think of it, but it isn't, as they are having a bunch of interesting conversations throughout. The two actors are dedicated with their characters, and they acted pretty natural. It is fun to watch whenever Angelica Panganiban delivers a line that actually strikes right through the heart of its viewers. She is a complete package and shows her versatility in each film she stars. JM de Guzman is a solid choice for his role as he gives the right emotions and reacts perfectly to Angelica's eccentric personality. They had a very good on screen chemistry and the two both had the chance to shine.

Overall, 'That Thing Called Tadhana's" success isn't a surprise. It is a film that actually managed to separate itself from rom-com movies we usually have in our cinemas. We just feel that it's quite short, and we wanted more time with the two. We heard a sequel, and the book is already in the works. We just hope it will come out sooner; it be truly appreciated.
