Kingsman: The Secret Service: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

First, we would like to thank 20th Century Fox PH for inviting us last Thursday to the special screening of Kingsman: The Secret Service at IMAX SM Megamall. Finally, the film is already days from its opening day, and we are happy to tell that this is the coolest movie released so far this year.

Early on, while in a mission in the Middle East, secret agent Harry Hart (Colin Firth) failed to save one of his comrades and felt responsible for his death. He visits the family of the agent and gave his son Eggsy a medal with a number where-in, he can call a special number if ever they needed a favor. Fast-forward to present day Eggsy (Taron Egerton) got into trouble, calls for help and Harry bails him out. When one slot opens to be a  Kingsman, Harry recruits Eggy to undergo a special training to earn the spot, so they can stop the diabolical plan of a manic billionaire named Valentine (Samuel L Jackson.)

Kingsman: The Secret Service is an incredible spy film thriller filled with over-the-top action sequences that are feast into the eyes. Honestly, we feel that Colin Firth isn't the right choice to play as a spy, but we are actually wrong as he manages to carry the role and gave up one of the best action scenes we've seen in a very long time. We have to credit Director Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass X-Men: First Class) on providing imaginative violence, which is really fun to watch. The story is interesting and delivered in a fast-paced style where-in you wouldn't expect what would happen next.

Aside from Colin Firth, the rest of the cast performed well with newcomer Taron Egerton delivering a solid job with his role. Samuel L Jackon provides color as the villain who wears fancy clothes and doesn't want to see blood because it makes him sick. The female characters also did well, with Sophie Cookson and Sofia Boutella handling their roles on a high note.

Overall, Kingsman: The Secret Service has the complete package in delivering a solid spy film. It has the awesome gadgets, exhilarating action sequences and shrugs off the seriousness to provide an entertaining flick. We highly recommend you check it out.
