Everly: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

If you loved Keanu Reeves' "John Wick" last year, then there is no reason for you to hate Salma Hayek's non-stop action flick "Everly." The titular character perfectly fits to Salma Hayek's personality killing bad-ass guys, and she is still smoking hot at 48.

Everly (Salma Hayek) opens wherein she is naked and wounded inside her bathroom. It turns out that she is trapped inside her apartment controlled by a Yakuza mob boss named Taiko. When the big boss found out  her plan, a bunch of gangsters were dispatched to kill her, but it happens that Everly isn't going down without a fight.

The film is plainly simple and feels empty at all, but it doesn't mean it isn't fun and entertaining. It is ridiculously enjoyable just to watch Salma Hayek put on her shoes then take it off so she can easily move to kill some guys. She is dedicated in her role oozing with confidence with a sharp look in her eyes as if she is mocking "bring it on b*tches". The movie is filled with crafty and awesome fight scenes with a lot of blood and gore. It's just a shame that the villains are stupid and dumb with their decisions with them knowing the capacity and skills of the protagonist.

Overall, Everly is a female John Wick in the making; however there is no dead dog or revenge plot line involved. Watching Salma Hayek do the action is just priceless, and  it is a simple fantasy granted early for this year.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 8.5 out of 10 stars
