Taken 3: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Get ready, as Bryan Mills returns on the big screen one more time. For the critics, The Taken franchise seems to continue to lose its steam and got a disappointing 11% at rotten tomatoes' website. It's a bit low as the film isn't that bad at all and still fun to watch. With Liam Neeson taking over with his particular set of skills, Taken 3 is still a decent action flick.

Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) continues to see his ex-wife Lenore (Famke Janssen) talking about an unhappy second marriage which she simply regrets. Things got a little more complicated when Lenore got killed in Bryan's apartment framing him up for the crime. With the motives unclear, Bryan must rely with his skills to find the culprit and protect his daughter Kim (Maggie Grace.)

The first film is a total hit making Liam Neeson one of the elite action stars despite his age. The second installment was criticized because of the same formula used but lessening the thrill and excitement. We both loved the first two films and became an instant fan of this franchise. The third one is still a compelling action film but we just simply want Pierre Morel to direct instead of Olivier Megaton because it lacked in blood, gore and body count that made the first film a success. They should have added more Russians to dispose and make Liam Neeson do in what he does best.

The story was just messy right from the very beginning. It's hard to imagine that the cops are pretty dumb and stupid in the whole duration of the film. However, when the action sequences starts to roll and Liam Neeson starts to work, you'll still feel the thrill and excitement. But they could have done been better to end this proud franchise.

Overall, Taken 3 promises that this would be the last chapter of the Bryan Mills saga. It is still a satisfying closure but could have offered more on the table. A lot of people may say that this is the right time to retire this franchise but for us; we are hoping to see another one with a returning Pierre Morel directing and Neeson facing deadlier guys with a fresh new story in the play.
