Mortdecai: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

We had the chance to watch the advance screening of Johnny Depp's new film "Mortdecai." It looks like that Mr. Depp tries to disappear again behind another character and seems to offer a spy comedy film with an outstanding set of cast. However, it isn't what we expected as the film tries hard to give us something ambitious but fails to hit the mark.

The film really struggles to convey a plot that may actually hold on for the whole duration. It limits the characters to do the same thing over and over again. It still had its moments and fun parts but doesn't offer much that makes the movie tedious at the long run. The cast is played by a charming set of actors with all wearing stylish clothing with a 60's vibe and seems to enjoy on what they are doing. But sadly, there are not really much for them to explore as they stumbled down in selling their own roles except for Paul Bettany that gave some of the laughs with not exerting too much effort.

Overall, Mortdecai isn't aware on what is happening on the screen. It feels forced and didn't have fresh ideas to offer. It has some fun parts, but it is completely forgettable.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 4 out of 10 stars
