White Bird in a Blizzard: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

First, we would like to thank Movie Punch for the movie passes we used last night to see the latest film of "The Fault in Our Stars" star Shailene Woodley. We were really excited to see this film because Shailene Woodley's presence as she just simply brings the best out of her character in all of her film.

Kat (Shailene Woodley) is a teenage girl who is ready to explore anything beyond her curiosity. One day, her mother (Eva Green) disappears without a trace, and she is left out with his broken father (Christopher Meloni.) Kat tries to cope with the loss of her mother and pursue her life in college. However, strange dreams about her mother surfaces and prevents her from moving on; making Kat search for clues to find out the truth about the disappearance of her mom.

The film has an interesting premise and really finds a way to deliver the story. The problem is the pacing is a bit slow, revealing the details inch by inch and triggers a shocking revelation in the end that we never expected. We had some right guesses but roughly don't have an idea that the final act was that surprising. It was a Shailene Woodley and Eva Green show making the film work out despite being boring at times. We were also startled with Shailene daring performance and the maturity of her role. She handles it well and came out strong while Eva Green shines.

Overall, White Bird in a Blizzard has a captivating story to tell. It may don't have some more compelling ideas, but Shailene Woodley's performance is just enough to make this film stable right from the start until the disturbing part in the end.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 7 out of 10 stars
