When machines talk: Globe Business M2M technology makes business better

Globe Business M2M-Fleet Management Service allows business owners to track the location of company vehicles while these are on the move. This lets them know if a company vehicle arrived at its destination on-time. They can also assess the best travel route a company vehicle can take or find an alternative route in cases of heavy traffic or obstructions.

Running a small or medium-sized business can be challenging: besides the problems faced at the workplace and daily operations, entrepreneurs must also take care of their office premises, vehicles, machinery and other fixed assets. The question, for many SMBs, is how to find solutions that are effective yet also affordable.

SMBs face many problems similar to those of larger corporations but they don’t have a lot of resources to solve such problems. What Globe Business does is provide SMBs with affordable, reliable, and effective solutions using what’s called ‘M2M’ or machine-to-machine technology.

Essentially, M2M technology allows machines to “talk” to each other and communicate through Globe Business’ M2M Network. This technology has many applications and uses that provide advantages and benefits to SMBs,” said Manny Escosa, Globe Business Small and Medium Business Marketing Head.

There are two main categories of Globe Business M2M Solutions currently available: Globe Business M2M Fixed Assets Management (M2M-FAM) and Globe Business Fleet Management Service (M2M-FMS).

Fixed Assets Management

For the following SMB needs listed below, there’s a corresponding Globe Business M2M Solution that addresses them.

Need: Security and maintenance of remote assets. SMBs that have remote assets like vendo machines and refrigeration units need to regularly assess the status of those machines and conduct maintenance or repair work.

Solution: Use Globe Business M2M Fixed Assets Management (M2M-FAM) to assess the status of remote assets and machines, including ATMs, vendo machines, refrigeration units and the like.

Once M2M-FAM determines that these remote assets are in need of maintenance or repair, it sends an alert to the business owner. The business owner can then send in a team to fix the machine.

There’s no need to physically send personnel to check on each individual machine from time to time, once the machines are already being monitored through the Globe Business M2M network.

Instead, each machine itself communicates through the M2M network when it needs maintenance or repair. This allows the business owner to send in a repair team at the most appropriate time. This saves the business owner time, effort and money.

Need: Monitor the unauthorized use of computer servers. Unauthorized use of company computers not only adds to the wear and tear on equipment and increase power consumption but, more seriously, compromises confidential company data.

Solution: Use Globe Business M2M-FAM to monitor track the utilization of company CPUs. Usually, a company would know the usual level of CPU activity in their servers. A higher-than-normal CPU activity may indicate unauthorized use of a company computer and Globe Business M2M-FAM can send an alert to the business owner (or a designated manager or staff) if this happens.

Need: Track and send alert when factory equipment is being used illicitly. Owners of factories need to ensure that their machinery is used only during designated hours to produce a pre-determined output. Illicit use puts wear and tear on machinery, increases power consumption, and also indicates that factory products are being manufactured illegally.

Solution: Use Globe Business M2M-FAM to alert owner when illicit use of factory machinery is detected. In this way, the factory owner will be able to implement measures to stop the illegal use of equipment and hold those behind it accountable.

Small and medium businesses (SMBs) can use Globe Business M2M Solutions to fit their needs, especially in the maintenance, security, and increased productivity of their fixed (computers, machinery), remote (vendo machines, on-site refrigerators, ATMs) or mobile (delivery trucks and company vehicles) assets. Business owners can use Globe Business M2M Solutions conveniently right from their office or business headquarters.

Fleet Management Service

Globe Business also offers M2M solutions for an SMB’s vehicles. The Globe Business M2M Fleet Management Service (M2M-FMS) offers several benefits and advantages to a company’s mobile assets. It uses GPS technology along with the Globe Business M2M network to keep track of a company vehicle’s location.

Need: Ensure on-time deliveries of goods. An SMB needs to make sure that its deliveries arrive at the correct destination on schedule. Delays could mean lost business.

Solution: Use Globe Business M2M-FMS to track the location of company vehicles while they are on the move. Using an office computer linked to the Globe Business M2M network, the business owner or a designated manager or staff can determine if a company vehicle arrived at its destination on-time.

Globe Business M2M-FMS can also assess the best travel route a company vehicle can take, based on historic performance for efficiency. Or allow a vehicle to find an alternative route in cases of heavy traffic or obstructions.

Need: Assure the proper refrigeration of perishable goods being delivered. SMBs that transport perishable goods need to maintain a proper temperature inside their delivery vans or trucks to avoid spoilage.

Solution: Keep track of the temperature inside the refrigerated compartments using Globe Business M2M-FMS. Through the M2M network, a business owner will be alerted in case of a malfunction in the temperature control. This quick, real-time alert allows the business owner to tell the driver to stop the vehicle and check the refrigeration compartment—so that a timely response can be made to make repairs.

Need: Alerts in cases of theft, pilferage, or hijacking of company vehicles. While it is difficult to actually prevent theft, pilferage, or hijacking, a business owner can make a more appropriate and more timely response in such situations if he or she is alerted as soon as possible when these occur.

Solution: Use Globe Business M2M-FMS to assess and co-relate vehicle performance and driver behavior based on vehicle status, speed, etc. By analyzing these factors, business owners can be alerted to a suspicious situation.

For example, Globe Business M2M-FMS can track if a company vehicle is moving too slow, has made an unauthorized stop, or has deviated from its predetermined route.

In cases where there is unauthorized opening of a vehicle’s cargo hold, or if an accident occurs, Globe Business M2M-FMS can trigger and broadcast a security alert to the owner. The owner can then inform authorities to respond.

Security and surveillance

Globe Business M2M Solutions also have applications related to security and surveillance. Globe Business M2M Security and Surveillance enhances a company’s existing security system.

It can assist company/user to determine thru the M2M alerts if there are attempts to tamper, sabotage or steal a company’s fixed assets. M2M security and surveillance devices use accessories such as motion and door sensors, panic buttons this may also be linked to Globe Business M2M Managed Services.

The Globe Business M2M Security and Surveillance system serves as a deterrent: the security devices are always ready to activate alarms and trigger an emergency response.

In summary: Globe Business' M2M Solutions optimize the functionality and productivity of a company's machines/assets. They make business operations less costly yet more efficient. They also provide greater security and control over a company's mobile and fixed assets.

Globe Business M2M Solutions are ideal for a wide range of businesses—including the food and/or service industries (restaurants, resorts, hotels, etc.); financial enterprises (banks, pawnshops, etc.); manufacturing, distribution; practically any business that benefits from machine-to-machine networking and pro-active security.

Globe Business M2M Solutions can be used in a variety of applications to fit the needs of every type of business—especially small and medium businesses (SMBs) that are seeking quality and reliability at a more affordable cost. SMB owners are welcome to come to us and discuss how we could customize a package of solutions to meet their needs,” said Escosa.

Avida’s “Juan Day” Celebration for a Cause

Avida Land celebrates 22nd Anniversary building homes with Habitat for Humanity

A construction site greeted the employees of Avida Land on October 19, 2012 when they arrived at Barangay Tanza, Navotas for their volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit organization based in Georgia, USA and established in the Philippines in 1988. The volunteer work was especially meaningful for the employees as they were also celebrating Avida’s 22nd anniversary.

Ms. Agnes Silva, representative of Habitat for Humanity, presents Mr. Chris Maglanoc, President of Avida Land, with a certificate of appreciation after Avida employees finished their volunteer work: they built houses for families in Bgy. Tanza, Navotas, who were rendered homeless by Typhoon Pedring.

On said day, the employees traded their corporate wear for hard hats and shovels; their office routines for calloused fingers, aching arms and backs, as they dug the ground, hauled bricks, and layered them to create walls for the new houses. They were divided into ten teams, with each team assigned to one of three tasks: excavating, brick layering and brick hauling.

Hard work and happy smiles: Avida employees at the end of their volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity. Avida employees celebrated the company’s 22nd anniversary by building houses for homeless families in Bgy. Tanza, Navotas.

Avida employees traded their usual office work for a day of hauling, digging, and layering of bricks to make houses for Navotas families made homeless by Typhoon Pedring. This was part of their volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity, which was their activity to celebrate the company’s 22nd anniversary.

Their entire day was spent taking part in Habitat for Humanity’s “Rebuild” program, which is focused on providing “shelter” to families whose homes were damaged or destroyed by Typhoon Pedring on September 29, 2011. These families currently take refuge in basketball courts as their main evacuation centers in Navotas. Thus, to alleviate the conditions of said families, the local government of Navotas donated a reclaimed settlement area at Brgy. Tanza and tapped Habitat for Humanity for house construction.

Avida employees became construction workers for a cause during the company’s 22nd anniversary. They built houses for homeless families in Navotas as part of their daylong volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity.

Walls of new homes for Bgy. Tanza, Navotas families, who were displaced by Typhoon Pedring, were constructed by Avida employees during their volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity. The Avida volunteers gamely layered bricks, dug the ground to lay foundations, and hauled bricks and other construction materials. All these happened during the company’s 22nd anniversary.

In honor of their 22nd Anniversary, Avida took up the challenge to partner with Habitat to accomplish enough output that will help construct 22 new homes.

Agnes Silva, a representative for Habitat for Humanity, explained why such had been a perfect endeavour for the company. “Avida is one of the leading real estate developers in the country today,” she said. “So it’s very fitting for the employees to personally experience house construction and be able to appreciate more the value of the quality product they seek to offer to the market.”

Roxanne Vasquez, head of the HR department and leader of the volunteer work, further shared that Avida’s tie up celebration with Habitat is actually the company’s CSR project for the year, which is under the “Avida Wellness Program” for its employees. “This event is a way of showing our employees the heart of Avida. We’re not just a company that is into business. We’re also a company that provides opportunities to our employees to be more significant outside Avida,” said Ms. Vasquez.

Mixing sand and cement is a new experience for Avida employees who volunteered for Habitat for Humanity. To celebrate the company’s 22nd anniversary, the employees built houses for homeless families affected by Typhoon Pedring.

Indeed, the activity benefitted not just Habitat’s home partners (the house recipients), but also the employees themselves. Team bonding was definitely evident in their teamwork, joyous laughter, jokes and smiles traded around as they gamely posed for pictures, in-between work.

At the end of the day, a tally of the bags of concrete excavated, bricks hauled and laid exceeded the goal with 22.5 units worth of output.

Teamwork and a commitment to serve were displayed by Avida employees who volunteered for Habitat for Humanity.

The success of the celebration has encouraged Avida to expand their CSR program. Chris Maglanoc, President of Avida Land, congratulated all the employees who shared their time and effort for the Navotas families. With the success of this partnership with Habitat, we are looking forward to carrying out more CSR activities that will help make a difference and uplift the lives of Filipino communities,” he added.

Paranormal Activity 4: Movie Review

Paranormal Activity 4
By: Lakwatsera Lovers

The film follows up the incidents of Paranormal Activity 2 where Katie (Katie Featherston) has killed the parents of his nephew Hunter before abducting him and gone missing. A Few years later a happy family started to experience weird things happening in a house after a young boy named Robbie (Brady Allen) stays in their house after his mother suspiciously brought to a hospital. So Alex (Kathryn Newton) and his boyfriend (Matt Shively) installed secret surveillance cameras around the house. Soon they found out that little Robbie is lurking down in the house in the middle of the night talking to someone which they need to investigate further before its too late.

The fourth film in the last 5 years, the franchise has been so successful with the formula of hand held cameras and recorded footage's in scaring its audience. After a breathtaking part 3, PA4 feels the same thing once again but the scares were limited but gets better towards the end of the film. PA4 is good if you're a fan of this series it still have that cheap scares but the story feels like getting tired and should end in this film. There's one weird thing which really doesn't make sense is when the character never seem to bother to check the recorded footage as the movie goes along. It's seems like they just installed the cameras so we can see what happens at night where the so called demons is talking to a creepy child. Still the movie produces some nerve racking scenes that build tension which shook off the crowd.

Overall PA4 is making a step backwards that is really costly for this franchise. It's still good but it's getting tired as we can see the same thing all over again. We just love Little Robbie which really creeps us out the most. We almost thought that he is also the super child in Looper. It's up to you to decide whether to watch it on the big screen

Calamity season underscores need for readiness

                                                       Photo from: pinoygigs.com

The height of the wet season in the country isn’t getting much help from the spate of other natural disasters like earthquakes and a string of typhoons. While such upheavals may be considered normal because of our orientation along the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire, there’s the even larger context of climate change whose impacts are felt all the way around the world.

Climate change or global warming has become evident in recent years as regions experience extreme climates, from warm seasons hitting record-high temperatures to wet seasons exhibiting massive precipitation. This is precisely the reason why organizations from both the public and private sectors call for extra vigilance.

As an advocate of safety and awareness, Eveready Philippines is taking an active stance in educating the public about being always ready when disaster strikes. “Now that we are at the height of what we can rightfully call ‘typhoon season’, Filipinos are again reminded to ensure that their family is always ready,” says Energizer representative Johanna V. Emata “This, of course, starts with awareness of certain situations and proper knowledge of which equipment and supplies are needed to be ready for any type of calamity.”

Keep up with the latest

The first thing to do at the onset of any calamity is to keep watch over the situation regardless of whether you are located near disaster-prone areas or not. This means keeping constantly updated with breaking news about the progress of the storm and related developments over television or radio.
It also helps to be oriented on PAGASA’s Public Storm Warning Signals (PSWS) as well as their recently released color-coded rainfall advisory, which would help people be ready for any possible situations. While PSWS corresponds to increasing storm intensity from PSWS#1 to PSWS#4, the rainfall advisory tracks the level of rainfall that determines rising water levels.

Code Yellow means heavy rain that will deposit about 7.5 to 15mm of water—a situation that requires constant monitoring of the weather condition because of the possibility of flooding. Code Orange, on the other hand, means intense rain that will deposit about 15 to 30mm of water. This code requires people to be alert for possible evacuation due to threat of floods. Code Red, like any other red-alert status, means danger. With more that 30mm of rainfall, low-lying areas are to expect serious flooding that would require residents to immediately evacuate.

Knowing these facts offer foresight and provide a chance to be always ready for possible disaster. Being ready means having ample time to strategize on which areas to avoid, how to safeguard property, or, at worst, evacuate the premises.

Basic Needs
If you and your family do get caught in a situation that leaves little or no margin for error, it helps to be prepared and armed with the right equipment and supplies. “Faced with an emergency disaster situation, what you have inside your home, or ultimately inside your bag, may spell the difference between life and death,” says Emata. “Being prepared with the right tools will definitely ensure you and your family’s survival.”

Securing the basic necessities of food, shelter, and clothing is of utmost importance. Making sure that the household is secure and waterways are free of debris are essential, as is stocking up on provision like bottled water and food that have a long shelf life.

An emergency kit that includes a multitool knife, First Aid materials, transistor radios, and flashlights should be accessible at all times. Cell phones should be charged in case of power interruption and emergency numbers must be on hand.

Help is on the way

It’s also important to stock up on long-lasting batteries. Aside from powering radios for information and flashlights for navigating through the dark, a good set of batteries powers signaling devices that can spell the difference between getting rescued and being left behind.

Eveready, the country’s leading battery brand, took the initiative to equip emergency response units like the Philippine Red Cross and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council with hands-free Energizer Headlights and Batteries needed to conduct rescue and relief operations.

Through partner organizations GMA Kapuso Foundation and ABS-CBN Foundation’s Sagip Kapamilya, Eveready also provided emergency lights and battery energy to families affected by massive flooding during the recent southwest monsoon (habagat) rains in most of Metro Manila and large parts of Luzon.

As a brand that has empowered Filipino lives for decades, Eveready reiterates the importance of being vigilant and ready at all times. “Given that our country is very much prone to natural calamities, we should all take time to prepare and invest on the safety of our families and homes,” says Emata. “It is a small price to pay considering the value of the things and the lives that you can save.”

Rise of the Guardians: Movie Review

Rise of the Guradians
By: Lakwatsera Lovers

When we first heard the title of the movie we thought it's the sequel of the Legends of the Guardians the Owls of Ga'Hoole. And were wrong it's an extraordinary animated film in which the legends unite in one spectacular movie. Special thanks to Magic 89.9's Big Meal for the special advance screening tickets we won on their show.

Jack Frost (Chris Pine) is trying to find out why he is Jack Frost for the last 300 years. But when a vicious threat to the kids  imposed by Pitch also known as the Boogeyman (Jude Law) the man in the moon chooses Jack to be one of the guardians which includes Santa Clause (Alec Baldwin), Tooth Fairy (Isla Fisher), Easter Bunny (Hugh Jackman) and Sandman. And together they need to stop Pitch from spreading fear to the children and making them believe that the guardians really exists. While helping Jack to remember his past and learn why he is chosen.

This film really made us feel that the holiday season is near. With an assemble of mythological legends that kids believe in, the story was really easy to digest which really spelled entertainment right from the very beginning. They also included some little unique twist that's really cute like Santa has a tattoo and the yeti's are making the gifts and not the elves. The filmmakers used their vivid imaginations to add complexity to the abilities of each character. They also spread out a lot of humor that an adult or a child can really get it easily. They also took advantage with the use of 3D effects that made the film colorful and lively specially the elves which feels like minions of Despicable Me.

The voice cast was outstanding making each character stands out in their own way.  Now we're really torn between Rise of the Guardians and Wreck it Ralph to be our favorite animated movie this year.

Overall Rise of The Guardians is filled with quality entertainment for all ages. It also had some heart melting scenes that's quite impressive. The use of 3D effects added more contrast to the visuals of the film. It's a must watch flick, we loved it so much as we're planning to see it again this week. Bring some kids with you as they will surely enjoy this wonderful movie. We hope that a sequel would be made because this movie is really awesome.

Trouble with the Curve: Movie Review

Trouble with the Curve
By: Lakwatsera Lovers

First we would like to thank RJ 100.3 for the advance screening tickets we won on their Facebook page. The trailer of this film doesn't appeal that much but we assure you that it is entertaining in its own unique way.

Gus Lobel (Clint Eastwood) is a legendary scout for the Atlanta Braves who discovers a lot of the best players of the franchise in the past years. But now he is reaching his final 3 months of contract and the management is planning to replace him with modern technology. Aside from that he is already going to loose his sight and making it too difficult for him to scout players. Surprisingly her daughter Mickey,(Amy Adams) wanted to help her father despite her busy schedule in the law firm. But there is a big problem though the two never get along with each other because of a secret that lies in their past.

The story of the movie is filled with emotional strengths that really connected to its audience. The father-daughter relationship problem is really sold well as a lot of people can really relate to this kind of things. Despite of it the movie shows that it's not too late to try fixing things especially when you still have the time to do what is right when you can still talk and see you parents. Although the movie being predictable it shows the passion of the sport and a good script that will make you stick on the screen until the end.  Thanks to the strong performances of the cast.

Clint Eastwood is really old but can still provide quality time in the silver screen. He doesn't need to prove anything just take a look in his impressive resume. Amy Adams is one of the main reasons why we loved this movie. She has a charming personality that makes the film really interesting. She also has a nice chemistry with Justin Timberlake who has been working through dramatic roles. Also a nice supporting job for Matthew Lillard, John Goodman and Robert Patrick

Overall Trouble with the curve is a good baseball film. It may not be your typical film but we assure that it's well enough and worth seeing on the big screen. A Relaxing, genuine and entertaining movie.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 8.5 out of 10 stars

School kids learn dengue self-defense in “Green Cross School Crashers”

CHILDREN ARE AT GREATER RISK of dengue infection, according to the Department of Health. Kids of ages 10 years and below need to level up their protection against this serious, potentially deadly disease—whether they are at home or in school.

This is why the Green Cross School Crashers campaign is a very important frontline effort to defend school children against dengue. The Green Cross School Crashers team goes to various schools in Metro Manila to empower school children by teaching them proper habits that will protect them from dengue lamok or dengue-carrying mosquitoes.

The Paco Catholic School students displayed much enthusiasm and learning during their participation in the interactive educational session held by the Green Cross School Crashers team.

The latest site of the Green Cross School Crashers campaign is Paco Catholic School, where elementary school kids learned about the two “school crashers” that they need to watch out for: Daytime Dengue Lamok, and Nighttime Dengue Lamok.

The Green Cross School Crashers team held two interactive learning sessions in the campus on November 19th, one for Grade Four and another for Grade Six students.

Paco Catholic School Director Msgr. Rolando Dela Cruz, is happy that the students displayed much enthusiasm and learning during their participation in the interactive educational session held by the Green Cross School Crashers team for the kids.

Though Paco Catholic School has recorded low dengue cases – 9 out of 2822 grade school students and 7 out of 2689 high school students – the school is very cooperative and welcomed the Green Cross School Crashers team.

The little school kids actively joined all the fun games prepared by the Green Cross School Crashers team.

The grade school students of Paco Catholic School listened intently to Green Cross School Crasher Ambassador, Ms. Green.

Double threat

One of the most important things that the Paco Catholic School kids learned is that there are actually two types, or species, of dengue lamok. one species, Aedes aegypti, bites during the day, while the other species, Aedes albopictus, bites at night.

For many, many years, people believed that Ae.aegypti was the only threat. Recently, however, Filipino entomologists discovered that another dengue lamok, Ae. albopictus, also threatens kids and families with dengue during nighttime.

So that kids can easily understand this new scientific discovery and other concepts about dengue and dengue lamok, they are taught by the Green Cross Crashers team using games, songs, dances, story-telling sessions and interaction with the Green Cross Ambassador, Ms. Green, and the two mascots: Daytime Dengue Lamok and Nighttime Dengue Lamok.

Ms. Green taught the school kids the special Day and Night Dengue Lamok Defense stance. The stance is similar to a karate block—and while the gesture is symbolic, it derived its effectiveness from the kids’ natural affinity for movement, mimicry, and play.

These various activities help kids understand that the threat of dengue is now double, with dengue lamok biting during the day and at night. This double threat of dengue is more worrisome when DOH statistics are considered:

Based on a DOH report, the national dengue cases from January to September 2012 now reached 95,142. This figure is 12.94% higher compared to the same period last year which was 84, 244 cases. DOH has also detailed that the prime dengue victims are mostly children under 10 years of age because of their weaker immune systems.

The kids were extra excited to meet the two school crashers mascots, Daytime Dengue Lamok and Nighttime Dengue Lamok.

The Green Cross School Crashers team went to various schools in Metro Manila to empower school children by teaching them proper habits that will protect them from dengue lamok or dengue-carrying mosquitoes. They have just successfully visited the Paco Catholic School in Manila.

The Green Cross School Crashers team held two interactive learning sessions in the Paco Catholic School to empower students and teachers on proper dengue defense.

Dengue defense

Ms. Green shared information on what students and parents can do to prevent dengue lamok from breeding. For example, getting rid of stagnant water in the house and its surroundings; this is because stagnant water is a mosquito breeding site.

Ms. Green taught the school kids the special Day and Night Dengue Lamok Defense stance. The stance is similar to a karate block—and while the gesture is symbolic, it derived its effectiveness from the kids’ natural affinity for movement, mimicry, and play.

Other preventive measures discussed included: wearing of long pants and long sleeved shirts; and applying insect repellent lotion to prevent mosquitoes from landing on and biting the kids’ skin.

Green Cross Insect Repellent Lotion is clinically proven to protect against Daytime Dengue Lamok and Nighttime Dengue Lamok. It also provides the anti-bacterial protection that the Green Cross brand is known and trusted to provide.

While dengue lamok continue to lurk around us, the Paco Catholic School kids now know how to protect themselves, thanks to Green Cross School Crashers. Aside from the new learning the students got from the Green Cross School Crashers, Paco Catholic School personnel regularly do fumigation and clearing of stagnant water within the school’s surroundings. The school also often coordinates with its barangay for new health programs and echoes these learnings to its students and teachers.

Other Metro Manila schools that have already joined the campaign against dengue include St. Scholastica’s College Manila; St .Scholastica’s College Marikina, St. Pedro Poveda, Manila Cathedral School, Notre Dame of Greater Manila, St. Mary’s Academy of Caloocan, Diliman Preparatory School, Sienna College, St. Jude Catholic School, Philippine Cultural College, Pasig Catholic College, University of Perpetual Help, Lourdes School of Mandaluyong, Divine Light Academy, Paref Southridge School and MGC New Life School.

Centrio Tower: Living to new heights in Cagayan de Oro City

Centrio Tower is set to rise like a jewel at the heart of the City of Golden Friendship—Cagayan de Oro. It’s the most anticipated, first high-rise residential condominium property in the area and is part of a 3.7 hectare mixed-use development that will include the Centrio Mall, an urban lifestyle hotel, and BPO Centers —all together offering an unmatched, complete living experience.

Would-be residents and investors rightly feel confident about the long-term benefits of getting a unit at Centrio Tower, considering that it is owned and developed by Cagayan De Oro Gateway Corp., a joint venture between Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) and the Antonio Floirendo Group of Companies (Anflo Group). Moreover, Avida Land Corp., the affordable housing arm of ALI, will officially handle the project development, marketing, and sales operations of the new development.

As a result of this confidence and trust from the market, more than 80 percent of Centrio Tower residential units have been sold to date, and the remaining units are available to those who act fast enough to get their own living space in this residential property. Units are expected to sell out by the first quarter of 2013.

Located along Corrales Street at the heart of Cagayan de Oro City, Centrio Tower is in close proximity to the region’s best educational institutions, shopping centers, medical facilities, and important business establishments. Centrio Tower is now under construction while its adjacent Centrio Mall officially opened to the public last November 9.

Amenities and features

Centrio Tower is a 23-storey residential condominium with a main lobby and two commercial units for the residents’ convenience at the ground floor. 159 parking slots are located at the ground floor and second level.

The third level, which is also the first residential floor, houses the main amenity area, adult & kiddie swimming pools, multi-purpose hall, outdoor exercise and play equipment. From the third floor to the 23rd floor, there are 522 units.

The Centrio Tower offers three breathtaking views to residents: the view of the Macajalar Bay on the north side, the view of the mountain ranges on the south side, and the view of the Cagayan de Oro river on the West side.

As is true in all Avida developments, Centrio Tower also has the Five Condominium Must-Haves: There’s free-flowing air and natural light. There are fewer units per floor to create more privacy, more personal space, a quieter environment, and to prevent crowding. Avida also promises the inclusion of sensible amenities that keep in mind the needs of the unit owners and present manageable maintenance dues.

There’s also emergency power right inside each unit as well as the common areas, to ensure that family life is not disrupted by stressful power outages.

Finally, units at the Centrio Tower are available through easy payment terms for stress-free transactions and utmost convenience to buyers.
Studio units (23 sqm) are available for P1.9M while 1-bedroom units (37 sqm) are priced at P2.8M. Those who wish for a much larger space should opt for the 2-bedroom unit (58 sqm) at P4.6M.
Centrio Tower residents are assured of their safety and convenience with 24/7 security protecting the premises, including emergency power; fire protection and an alarm system. A CCTV monitoring system is also in place at the lobby.
Centrio Tower is managed by the Ayala Property Management Corporation, the most trusted name when it comes to maintaining properties. This guarantees residents that the property remains in top shape.
Centrio Tower, with its sensible amenities and features, along with its ideal location, is also one of the soundest investments for those seeking a property to lease. For unit owners, Leasing Services by Avida (LSA) can facilitate convenient and hassle-free renting of units.

Centrio Mall launch

Aligned with Ayala Malls’ commitment to bring forth innovative and world-class shopping centers, the recently-launched Centrio Mall showcases a contemporary and distinctive architecture with verdant landscaping accented by two old acacia trees at the center providing a relaxing vibe to the entire shopping experience.

Globe Business Ambassador Darlyn Ty wins 2012 Agora Award

GLOBE BUSINESS AMBASSADOR Darlyn Ty is the winner of the Agora Award for Entrepreneurship, given by the Philippine Marketing Association in recognition of marketing excellence achieved by individuals and companies. The ceremonies were held at the Hotel Inter-Continental in Makati City on October 16, 2012.

ENTREPRENEUR AND GLOBE BUSINESS AMBASSADOR DARLYN TY is the recipient of the 2012 Agora Award for Entrepreneurship given by the Philippine Marketing Association. Darlyn is the creative and entrepreneurial force behind Viviamo, Inc., the company that produces the best-selling Belle de Jour Power Planner for women. She uses Globe Business solutions to help run her business more efficiently at less cost.  “Globe Business helps us in key communication efforts to strategic partners in aligning marketing efforts and activities, as well as for maintaining good relationships with them,” said Darlyn.

Darlyn received the prize for her success in creating and marketing the best-selling Belle de Jour Power Planners for the female market—through her company, Viviamo, Inc.

So what’s her secret to winning her first ever Agora Award?

The best marketing tool is having a great, differentiated and relevant product. We put in a lot of effort in developing our product and we also gather extensive knowledge about our market. In the case of Belle de Jour, we strive to get to know the women who are the users of our planners,” she replied.

Darlyn’s Belle de Jour Planners are a favorite among women who use these as a way to achieve their goals while also keeping their “work-life balance”. Darlyn calls these women “BDJ Girls”.

BDJ Girls are empowered women who want to live life to the fullest. Life is so fast paced now, and it's so easy to get lost in the noise. There is real value in writing things down, realizing what is important to us, and then making things happen step by step. Goals are not achieved overnight. They are achieved day by day, inch by inch. “The BDJ Planner helps by putting things in total perspective. Things get done day by day, and this allows women to live life to the fullest,” Darlyn explained.

Perfect partner

Running a small company amid the presence of much bigger competitors is very challenging, said Darlyn. According to her, small companies do not have as much resources as their bigger competitors.

We are still a small company striving for growth so we have to maximize whatever limited resources we have. However, that challenge can also be a blessing: it helps us become more creative in making things happen.

Creativity, innovation and perspective make our products and activities insightful and relevant. We also need to focus on developing good relationships with various partners—that’s really important in our business,” she said.

When it comes to keeping strong links with her business colleagues, customers and suppliers, Darlyn revealed that her partnership with Globe Business is crucial to her company’s success.

Globe Business helps us in key communication efforts to strategic partners in aligning marketing efforts and activities, as well as for maintaining good relationships with them,” she said.

Darlyn has tapped Globe Business to give her an edge when it comes to using high-tech telecommunications services at a price that is cost-effective and affordable for a company like hers.

Powerful, affordable solutions

At present, Darlyn is using Globe Business Capped Plans to let her manage her company mobile accounts more effectively and at less cost. A Business Capped Plan provides a monthly load allowance that serves as a cap or limit on an employee’s spending of company mobile phone credits.

For example, Business Capped Plan 600 allots each company mobile account a monthly allowance of P600 per month. The company only has to pay exactly P600 a month for each account and nothing more. If more load is needed, you can just top-up according to your needs.

Second, Business Capped Plans have an Unli Business Loop feature that allows unlimited calls within the company. Third, Business Capped Plans come with free mobile phones.

All these benefits allow Darlyn to maintain strong, productive relationships with her business partners, suppliers and customers.

In our business, coordination and timing are very important to keep our operations efficient and productive. I’m always on the lookout for mobile phone plans that could help us keep our expenses down while improving our communications.

I found the perfect partner in Globe Business through their Business Capped Plans. We make full use of the unlimited calls feature within the company as well as the consumable monthly allowance. We even have free SMS to other networks.

I don’t have to worry about communications costs anymore and in fact, I could even extend the plan to our messenger so he can coordinate directly with our staff. This way, he’s able to do things right at the right time,” she said.

Like Darlyn, you can discover how Globe Business can help your company succeed and achieve its goals. If you’re a small or medium-sized business, Globe Business can also yhelp give you the edge to let you run your business in a simpler, more efficient, and more cost-effective manner. Elton John’s Most Interesting Quotes

He’s out to take over the Big Dome on December 8 and every Filipino worth his musical salt is waiting for Sir Elton John to bring his Rocket Man concert in Manila. From his numerous awards – six Grammys, four Brit Awards, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Tony Award – to his knighthood for his services to music and charitable services bestowed upon him by nothing less than Queen Elizabeth II, Elton John has proved to the world why he’s hands down, one of the most successful music idols in history.

Elton John is not just a mere English singer and song writer. He’s a rare personality that sparks a lot of interest along the way as he releases one hit song after another from the humble start of his career mainly because of his exceptional personality. The Rocket Man is not just famous for a long and ongoing series of hit records, he’s also quite popular for his thoughts as well.

On previous romances and the current love of his life: “I took hostages and prisoners and expected them to adapt to my lifestyle. This relationship is a very 50-50. That's the mistake I made in my past relationships. I've done a lot of work on myself. I'm 16 years sober. I don't run away and I don't take drugs. I deal with the situation and I have a partner in my life who is great and helps me to do that.”

On his interests: “I’ve only been interested in the artistic side of life.”

On fellow British Superstar Sting  who will also perform live at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on December 9: “Sting is one of my great buddies and I love him to death.”
