By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Before we watch a movie we always fill our hungry stomachs with a delicious food. And now we fell in-love with newest chicken in the Market. Manang's Chicken is a one of a kind double deep fried chicken that is simply hard to resist and oozing yummy incredible sauce. Even Teenay has an allergy when she eats chicken, we just buy an anti-allergy medicine because she can't withstand to see me eating a chicken cut meal. Probably this is one of the best fried chicken in town with an astonishing low price.

Recently they had a contest titled "Fan of the week Promo" where all you need to do is to upload a picture enjoying a Manang's Chicken and if they pick your entry you'll win free meals from them. Luckily our entry was picked and I was the winner in week 2.

Journey 2 The Mysterious Island: Movie Review

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island
By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Once Again we would like to thank Pinoy Exchange for the advance screening tickets we won in their website.

Another exciting journey begins when Sean Anderson (Josh Hutcherson) receives a coded distress signal from a mysterious island. He believes that his lost grandfather (Michael Cane) is there who's been missing for two years. Together with his stepfather, Hank (Dwayne Johnson) they traveled all the way to Palau to search for the island. With the help of a Helicopter Pilot (Luis Guzman) and her charming daughter (Vanessa Hudgens), they set out to find the island with strange life forms and has a lot of astonishing secrets. Now they need to find a way on how to escape from the island before it sinks into the ocean.

Follows the movie Journey to the center of the Earth (2008) another fast paced exciting adventures set to electrify your cinematic experience in Journey 2 The Mysterious Island. With outstanding visuals in 3D, the film will amaze you from the very beginning until the end. With Dwayne Johnson filling the gap left by Brendan Fraser the movie was much fun to watch specially the banter between him and Michael Cane. With the addition of the lovely Vanessa Hudgens and the comedic factor of Luis Guzman the movie never had a dull moment. You'll surely love it just make sure to bring some kids as they would appreciate every scene.

Though the story is a little bit predictable, it gave us good thrills that really glued us on to our seats. It also has good message for the whole family and a good animation made in the whole island. Journey 2: the mysterious island is a great film and we recommend it to peeps who wants to watch a great adventure movie this weekend.

Annebisyosa Concert " Best Concert Ever"

Annebisyosa Concert: "Best Concert Ever"
By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Thanks to Cherry Mobile for the tickets we've won on their contest. Anne Curtis indeed is the new concert sweetheart as she filled the Araneta Coliseum with people who wants to hear her sing in her first solo major concert. The energized crowd was enthusiastic to see her sing hard hitting lines.

There were a lot of celebrity in the crowd to support her including Richard and Raymond Gutierez, Kris Aquino, Solenn Heussaff, her Showtime family and her ever supportive special someone, Erwan Heussaff. She performed well with her guests including Vhong Navarro, Luis Manzano, Sarah Geronimo, Jasmin Cutis Smith, Sam Milby, Rico Blanco and the most entertaining part with Vice Ganda.

She also had a special number with Cristine Reyes and Derek Ramsey which we really enjoyed as it reminds us the Blockbuster "No Other Woman" last year.

Anne Curtis really entertained us and the whole Araneta crowd specially in the part when she was raised up high the stage on the bed to perform Alone when she could not start it perfectly, she ask for a one more take and tells the crowd to pretend that nothing happened.

She is a total package she is pretty, sexy and talented in acting We don't think that Anne's voice is bad, she just need a few more practices and we think she could have more concerts not only here but outside the country. She really made our day specially the part with Vice Ganda. A very solid night for a 3 hour concert it is the best one we've watched and we'll be there for the REPEAT.

We just envy those who won Meet and Greet passes with Anne but we are hoping to meet and see Anne  up close soon.

Yep, One of the most brutal killing machine is back. "Leatherface" will haunt the big screen this coming June 26.  This series is the most exciting suspense thriller movie for us and we are looking forward to watch it on the big screen. Haywire: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

First Thank you to Movie Punch facebook page for the advance screening tickets to Haywire last night.

MMA Superstar Gina Carano stars in this action-thriller movie as Mallory Kane. She is a highly trained covert ops specialist that works for a government security contractor that does the most dangerous missions across the globe. After a successful rescue to a Chinese journalist hostage in Barcelona she was sent again for another mission to Dublin where she was double crossed by someone in their agency. They want her to be dead while Mallory needs to rely on her skills to survive, find the truth and eliminate those who betrayed her.

Gina Carano is indeed one hot lady with her awesome moves in the fight scenes, she really made my day watching this film. Haywire is not your average action movie that has too many explosions or car chases that would destroy tons of properties just to make the film exciting. They done it with style with very realistic choreography. It was made brilliantly in different ways with fresh camera angles and star studded cast, Haywire was pretty good. The story was a little bit predictable yet they still provided some few good twist and turns in the end. Yet some people may get bored as they may compare this with other revenge themed movies, Haywire stands alone with the depth and originality that director Steven Soderbergh did.

Overall if you like to watch a fresh action thriller themed movie you better watch this but if you want to stick with the impossible stunts that can only be seen in films skip it, as we don't think you'll appreciate this.

The Darkest Hour: Movie Review

The Darkest Hour
By: Lakwatsera Lovers

First we would like to thank our good friend Junnel Montelibano for the reel time screening tickets of The Darkest Hour last night at Sm Megamall Cinema 1.

Good friends, Sean and Ben (Emile Hirsch and Max Minghella) traveled all the way to Moscow for a software design project in a big time company. They were outplayed by Skyler (Joel Kinnaman) their British competitor that stole their design. Disappointed, they end up meeting two female tourist in a nightclub (Olivia Thirlby and Rachael Taylor) and then out of nowhere a parade of lights start to hit everyone and turns them into dust. 8,000 miles from home with language barrier and invisible alien invaders all over the place all they need is to survive the onslaught.

Another thriller alien invasion movie, nothing to be excited about as most of the good parts were already spilled out in the trailer. It was a fast paced movie with some exciting bits and marvelous special effects. The concept was too weak as it was already seen many times before. The story was pale as they already knew that the aliens wipe out most of the population in Moscow they made this brilliant plan by going to the US Embassy to ask some help. (This may contain spoilers) Another goofy thing about this was they already saw the submarine that would rescue them when a huge explosion occurred and sunk their boat all they have to do is swim and get in the sub. When one of them decided to walk half a mile and hide inside an abandoned bus. Some of the parts were really dumb while some are unexpected and good.

Overall The Darkest Hour provided some soft spark and a little entertainment. Don't expect too much as you may get disappointed.

Coriolanus:Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

First we would like to thank Movie Punch for the tickets we've won on their facebook page. Thank you also to the movie posters they gave us. You can like their page for more movie updates and free movie invites.

When General Caius Martius "Coriolanus" (Ralph Fiennes) returned to Rome as a hero by leading his troops against Volscian forces lead by Tullus Aufidius (Gerard Butler). He was then awarded to become the prime candidate for consul but he despises the people in Rome. Soon he was manipulated by other politicians and banished from Rome. The exiled hero looked for his arch nemesis,Aufidius and offers his life and services. Together they march to Rome and planned to burn it down.

Coriolanus is one of Shakesphere's plays though Ralph Fiennes makes his own adaption in a modern way. Even we do not like a movie with a lot of talks the actors was really marvelous in portraying their role especially with Fiennes delivering those hard hitting lines with his democratic emotions.Coriolanus has a great story to back it up and a nice mix of fights scenes from the start. The movie was mixed with a lot of ingredients to be a brilliant adaptation of the play though maybe a lot of viewers will feel bored.

Overall Coriolanus is a masterpiece Oscar material movie maybe for much adult audiences. It's strong cast brought a lot of complexity all throughout and gave a nice scenery of the tragic moment in the end. No wonder the critics gave it a 92% grade at rotten tomatoes.

Contraband: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Once again thank you to Pinoy Exchange for the inviting us to the press screening of Contraband last night at Solar Entertainment Office.

Chris Farraday (Mark Wahlberg) is a former smuggler in the shipyards of New Orleans. He abandoned this kind of life to settle down with his wife (Kate Beckinsale) and their two kids. But after his brother-in-law (Caleb Landry Jones) blew up a drug deal, Chris is forced back in what he does best by running contraband. Together with  his best friend (Ben Foster) they assemble a crew to head in Panama and return with millions in counterfeit bills so he can settle the debt. But he must do this quickly before his wife and kids become a target.

Contraband simply is a good action thriller with a very interesting plot. With hard hitting scenes and excellent set of characters the film was really entertaining from start to finish. The pace was really brisk and there are many moments that would really hold you on to your seat and control yourself not to have a bathroom break. It held the intensity all throughout and gave some few fun twist in the end. We really enjoyed the scene in Panama where Chris was forced to be a part of a heist and escaped with all the counterfeits with limited amount of time to get back inside the ship without getting caught. Contraband really hyped up every scene and succeeded to amuse us.

Mark Wahlberg is one of our favorite male leads because he is a very versatile actor and appealing in front of the camera. While Kate Beckinsale was barely felt in the movie her role was important because Wahlberg wont have a reason to this job. But still she is still one of the most alluring actress in Hollywood. It's funny that Giovanni Ribisi looked like CM Punk (WWE Wrestler) as the bad ass gangster. Above all the cast was appealing and impressive.

Overall Contraband is a good action movie to start the year. If you loved Mark Wahlberg's Italian Job we're sure you'll love this one. It's a really enjoyable thrilling heist.

Tango Fire: Flames of Desire

Tango Fire: Flames of Desire
By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Thanks to FTW Magazine we are able to witness Tango Fire last night at Resorts World Manila. Also thanks to our friend Janus for the information on how to get some of those invites. Too bad we are not allowed take some pictures but still we enjoyed the show.

Tango Fire was indeed one of a kind show that entertained the audience from start to finish. With every step of classy moves it felt like your in a different place. It's like your in Argentina, feeling that kind of atmosphere in the venue was extremely incredible. With their dazzling synchronized moves and amazing difficult routines each of the dancers displayed a complete mastery of it.

The choreography and the breath taking stunts was simply stunning. The girls were awesomely hot with Flames of Desire as the title, indeed says it all.  We really don't care about Tango at first but after the show we admired it a lot. Overall the show was filled with different emotions and outstanding stage presence, it is such a prestigious world class act.

Kris Aquino: “Omega-3 DHA makes my heart healthy”

KRIS FINDS TRUE LOVE. Actress and host Kris Aquino shares her love for San Marino Corned Tuna, saying it combines delicious, real corned beef taste with health benefits. "It's simply the best for me, that's why I say I've found my true love in San Marino Corned Tuna."

 Kris Aquino: “Omega-3 DHA
makes my heart healthy”

KRIS Aquino is the type who opens her heart generously. For this reason, her fans see her as a real person — someone who has the same struggles and joys related to family, career, romance, and even health.

As for maintaining her own heart’s health, she gladly shares her discoveries on Omega-3 DHA. “I want to have a healthy heart. I learned how important Omega-3 DHA is,” Kris says.

Omega-3 DHA, which is naturally-found in tuna, contributes to having a healthy heart as it lowers cholesterol and blood pressure. It also reduces risks of heart attack and other cardio-vascular diseases. “I found out that San Marino Corned Tuna has Omega-3 DHA. This is one of the many reasons why I love the product,” Kris stresses. Every 180-g can of San Marino Corned Tuna has 1,125 mg of Omega-3.

Who would not want to have a healthy heart? I am definitely recommending San Marino Corned Tuna to my family and friends,” Kris says. “I want them to have a healthy heart too.”

When interviewed by Boy Abunda at The Buzz on January 8, Kris was quoted saying, “Boy, paano ko naman mamahalin si Josh at Bimby kung hindi ko aalagaan ang sarili ko.”

In a separate interview, Kris explained further why she wants to be in good health. “I want to be healthy because I want to love more and live more especially for my kids.” Kris adds, “Shifting to San Marino Corned Tuna is a smart decision.”

When asked why she is endorsing San Marino Corned Tuna, Kris says, “I believe in San Marino and what it stands for – good health beyond mere appearance.” Kris believes that being in good health starts from the inside. “What’s inside is truly more essential.”

I won’t settle for anything less than San Marino. For me, it’s the best!”

With San Marino Corned Tuna, Kris was also able to have the delicious taste of corned beef and the health benefits of tuna. “I like corned beef but I can’t eat it all the time. That’s why I love San Marino Corned Tuna. It has the delicious taste of corned beef and the health benefits of tuna.”
Another great thing about San Marino Corned Tuna is that it can be enjoyed anytime anywhere. It is available in single-serve pack with easy-to-open pull tab (85g) which is good for people on the go. It is also available in regular packs (380g, 180g, 150g, 100g which may be served and eaten in a number of ways at home or out of home.

When it comes to food, I also prefer one that has less oil.” San Marino Corned Tuna has less oil than the usual tuna flakes in oil and has lots of tuna.

I’ll claim it. I found true love in 2012. The search is definitely over,” Kris says.

I join the millions of Filipinos who choose the number one corned tuna. Cheers to having a healthy heart.”

We haven't really read the book but based on the trailer and the amazing storyline we are really excited to watch this movie. Set to be released on March 23 The Hunger Games is one of the most anticipated movie this year. We believe that this particular series will be the next Twilight as they are planning to make three or four movies. And as early as now they already had a release date for the second installment, The Hunger Games:Catching Fire will be released on November 22, 2013. In addition of that they hired Academy Award-winning Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire) to write the script.

Set in the future, 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) is living with her mother and little sister in what's left of North America, in one of 12 districts all being run by the Capitol. Despite mastering the skill of hunting and trapping edible plants, Katniss still struggles to keep her family from going hungry.

Each year, the names of all residents between the ages of 12 and 18 are entered into a lottery and two names, one girl and one boy, are chosen at random from each district to compete in the televised Hunger Games. The 24 children must try to kill each other off and the last one standing is rewarded by the Capitol with a feast of food.

When her little sister's name is selected, Katniss steps up to take her place in the deadly competition.

The Hunger Games was also voted number one as the most anticipated movie this year outlasting The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part II, The Avengers, and The Dark Knight Rises.

Most Anticipated Movie of 2012
"The Hunger Games" – 51%
"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2" – 45%

A Mother's Story: Movie Review

A Mother's Story
By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Intrigued with a lot of positive feedback we decided to watch A Mother's Story yesterday. The theater was jam packed so we eventually ended up at the front row.

Medy (Pokwang) is a mother of two, stressed in her everyday life and with her gambler husband (Nonie Buencamino). One day her boss wanted her to come with her to US for a one week job. There she met her high school friend (Beth Tamayo) which encourage her to stay. With her ailing child who badly needs treatment she decided to stay illegally to earn money. After seven long years she finally went home finding out that the family she left could not recognize her anymore.

The story was really heartwarming as a mother would do anything for her family even risking her own life just to earn money. She made a lot of sacrifices and hardships only to found out that his husband have a new family and her son hates her. With this tragic sorrow moments it really hits the emotions of the audience but whenever you feel that moment, they would actually mix it with a little humor that would control the burst of your feelings.

The story itself has a lot of empathy to it's characters. With Pokwang really gave her all, we are really impressed with her acting as a comedian doing dramatic scenes. With the story can be based in real life we admire all the OFW's who endure all the sacrifices for their families. This kind of movies are the quality films we should watch and we can be proud of.

Overall we really recommend this movie to everyone specially to the people who have their love ones out of our country. We should spend some time with them at least sending an email or a text message hoping that they are alright. We should respect them for what they are doing and at least repay them with importance and love.

Alvin and the Chipmunks 3 : Movie Review

Alvin and the Chipmunks 3
By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Yep, the Chipmunks and the Chipettes are back drawing more younger crowds in the cinemas. With their cute version of hit songs of Lady Gaga the chipmunks really are hard to hate.

Dave (Jason Lee) with the chipmunks and the chipettes are on a family vacation cruise before heading to International Music Awards. And once again Alvin does a lot of fun causing a lot of trouble inside the ship. Then he made a fatal mistake dragging them all in a deserted island. While Dave search for them with the help of his arch nemesis Ian (David Cross). The chipmunks needs to survive on their own.

Basically we loved the chipmunks keeping us to reminisce our youth days. But in this film it felt like the series is getting tired and just made to entertain much younger audiences. Yes they are still charming and adorable but the story was too simple and predictable. We didn't enjoy it much but the chipmunk songs are really entertaining. They should have made a little depth in the script, made much newer songs and much enjoyable sequel as we all now the chipmunks are all about fun.

Overall the kids will still love it as we heard a lot of sweet giggles from them the whole duration of the movie.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 6 out of 10 stars.
