DVD Review: Night of the Demons

Night of the Demons
By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Another new release from the Video City was Night of the Demons. A good movie to watch since it's already Halloween season. This remake definitely did not quite reach our standards when it comes to a horror movie. The story was too simple to enjoy and the actors was not that great. The only thing that gave us to continue watching this flick was the prosthetic used in making the demons which I think would scare you if you see it personally. It was nicely made perfect idea for a costume at a Halloween party. Overall this movie is okay to watch but get ready with your remote control for fast forwards as some of the scenes was absolutely boring.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 2 out of 5 stars the demons was cool and that's it.

A group of teenage kids decided to throw a Halloween party in a haunted mansion After the cops spoiled all the fun and excitement, seven of them stayed and discovered the diabolical secrets of the house. The house was mysteriously locked and ended them up surviving in a battle between demons.

Casts: Monica Keena, Shannon Elizabeth, Michael Arata, John Beach, Michael Copon and Diora Baird.

Praybeyt Benjamin: Movie Review

Praybeyt Benjamin
By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Thanks to Juan Manila for sponsoring our tickets for the 2nd movie of the night for us. We decided to watch Praybeyt Benjamin. I heard a lot from this film already as some of the people talked about it in the MRT and some of my friends are already hooked up with the funny gags of Vice Ganda.

Praybeyt Benjamin is surely a film to watch with your friends when all of you needs a stress reliever from school or work. Vice Ganda never gets old from every line he delivers. All we heard from the cinema was bursts of laughter from the very start of the movie until the end of credits. Obviously Vice Ganda's talent is exceptional as he is one of the best comedian in this generation. He never runs out of jokes and everyone loves him. We just loved the story of Petrang Kabayo better which has a nicer solid concept. But still Praybeyt Benjamin will surely keep you to have nonstop laughter heads up to Vice!

Kudos also to the supporting cast which did a job well done. It is nice to see Jimmy Santos back into the big screen. It is also a laugh trip every time a scene with Vice and Derek are involve. I love the part when they had a shower scene and when he was punished to make some push ups imagining that Derek was underneath him. Other casts includes Nikki Valdes, Vandolph Quizon, Eddie Garcia, Abby Bautista, Dj Durano, Carlos Agassi, Kian Cipriano and Derek Ramsey

Benjamin Santos VIII (Vice Ganda) whose family has a long tradition of serving the military, from the days of Lapu-Lapu until now. Conflicts ensues when his Lolo (Eddie Garcia) founds out that he is gay making a disgrace out of their bloodline. But when his Lolo was captured by the terrorists he enters the military to save his grandfather and proved that he is worthy of being a Benjamin Santos.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 4 out of 5 stars I hope that one day there would be a Vic Sotto and Vice Ganda movie which now possible as Bossing is now making movies under Star Cinema.

In Time: Movie Review

In Time
By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Thank you to Araneta Center for the tickets we won on their facebook page. Together with RT 99.5 they hosted the advance screening of In Time at Gateway Cineplex cinema 3. We totally want to watch this as the trailer was exceptional and we are looking forward to see the Timberlake-Seyfried team up.
In the future people stop aging at the age of 25 but then you only have one year to left to live. A digital clock on your left forearm will start ticking down and when your clock ends up in zero you'll be dead. Time replaced money as the universal currency by simply touching someones wrist you can get some of their time to your clock. Will Salas (Justin Timberlake) lived with her mother at ghetto timezone with most of the people only have one day to live. But his fortune was change when he met a stranger who wants to die ends up giving him one century. Accused with a false murder Will must face the odds of the timekeeper with the help of Sylvia Weis (Amanda Seyfried) the daughter of the richest man alive.

The storyline was pretty impressive imagine at 50 years old you still look 25 years younger. With a talented cast which delivered in their corresponding roles, In time made a brilliant ambitious move in an imaginative way on what can we expect in the future. A survival for the fittest as you need to spend your time wisely in order to live longer. In Time is exciting and daring with full of car chases and extravagant visuals. Still it was enjoyable but we felt something was missing or it just lacked in action sequences.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 4 out of 5 stars a film that is definitely worth of your time, 109 minutes to be exact.

Casts includes Olivia Wilde, Matt Bomer, Alex Pettyfer, Cillian Murphy and Vincent Kartheiser.

* This isn’t the first film that Timberlake, Seyfried, Kartheiser and Wilde have appeared in together in a movie all of them were featured in “Alpha Dog.”
* In real life, Justin Timberlake is older than Olivia Wilde, who plays his mother.

Three Musketeers: Movie Review

Three Musketeers
By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Finally after a week we decided to watch the newest version of this often made film. Over 20 film adaptation was made but it never gets old. The classic movie now has a new plot and an incredible energetic casts. It is full of enjoyable swordplay, danger, excitement and adventure. The fights were clean and bloodless but it still provided a lot of fun for the audiences. We felt like watching Pirates of the Caribbean and we were just waiting for Captain Jack Sparrow to appear in a cameo. The effects and sounds are tremendously impressive. We really liked the film and I never thought I can enjoy it because I really hated it when I made my book report when I was still in high school.

The story started with young cocky D'Artagnan who traveled to Paris to become a Musketeer. When he arrived in Paris he ended up challenging Athos, Porthos and Aramis in duels but soon teaming up with the three to fight the cardinals guards. D' Artagnan becomes a musketeer, together they must stop the evil plans of the Cardinal to start a war between France and England by preventing him from framing the Queen of France of committing adultery with the English Duke of Buckingham.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 5 out of 5 stars Three Musketeers is genuinely entertaining film from start to finish. One for all and all for one

Logan Lerman as D'Artagnan
Matthew Macfadyen as Athos
Luke Evans as Aramis
Ray Stevenson as Porthos
Milla Jovovich as Milady de Winter
Orlando Bloom as Duke of Buckingham
Christoph Waltz as Cardinal Richelieu
Freddie Fox as King Louis XIII
Mads Mikkelsen as Rochefort

Paranormal Activity 3: Movie Review

Paranormal Activity 3
By: Lakwatsera Lovers

We had a movie date last night at Robinsons Movieworld Galleria as we cant wait to watch Paranormal Activity 3. My friend said that she was scared to death watching it and Suzy the DJ of Magic 89.9 said it creeps her out.  According to yahoo movies Paranormal Activity 3 already set the biggest debut for a horror movie earning $54 million on its opening weekend.

Paranormal Activity 3 is one of the scariest film ever. All the audiences in the cinema screamed, I heard Oh My God! a lot of times and I ever heard a straight guy screaming like a little girl. This franchise is so successful because of the scenes that you would really make you feel that the footage is real. You can imagine that some spirits or ghosts lurk at your hallway or stairs at night.

Paranormal 1 scared us when we watched it on DVD leaving my cousins sleep beside me after. I am just disappointed with Part 2 because it sucked big time. The prequel really paced up where it left the first part, the moving camera gave a better scare pleasure and the actors did a great job making the movie spine chilling. I advice that you take all of your friends and watch this film this week. This spooked us out and we guarantee a horrifying viewing experience.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 5 out of 5 stars too bad according to yahoo movies some of the scenes were dropped and I think Tobey did it

Casts includes Kathie Featherston, Sprague Grayden, Lauren Bittner, Christopher Nicholas Smith, Chloe Csengery and Jessica Brown.

Winnie The Pooh: Movie Review

Winnie The Pooh
By: Lakwatsera Lovers

I never watched or read anything about Winnie the Pooh all i know, he is a cute bear who loves honey. I never knew that a one hour animated film would be enjoyable. It's such a classic for me because when we watched it as I felt a flashback in my childhood days watching Aladdin and the Lion King in the big screen. Pooh and his friends gives back the charm of animated films that just plainly a story about friendship.

It's all about Pooh searching for honey.  He started singing with the buzz of his hungry stomach that lead him to little adventures with his best pals. He found out that the tail of his friend Eeyore went missing as they started to have a contest to find a replacement. Pooh and his friends also searched for Christopher Robin, who they think has been abducted by a terrible monster known as the BackSon. The story is so simple its like a bedtime story with your mother reading a book before you go to sleep. The movie should have been longer and they should have made proper spelling in some of the scenes as most of their viewers were kids.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 4 out of 5 stars too bad you can only watch Winnie the Pooh at Greenbelt 3 and Glorietta 4 Cinemas. I think its better to give Pooh the cinema slots instead of the lousy movie like the Howling.

Vocal performances from: John Cleese, Jim Cummings, Bud Luckey, Craig Ferguson, Jack Boulter, Travis Oates, Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Wyatt Dean Hall, Tom Kenny, Huell Howser

* While Disney has made many Winnie the Pooh movies, this is only their second to be produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. All of their other Winnie the Pooh movies, both those released Direct to Video/DVD and those released theatrically, were produced by DisneyToon Studios and thus are not considered to be official sequels.

The Howling Reborn: Movie Review

The Howling: Reborn
By: Lakwatsera Lovers

I really don't know what's on our mind when we decided to watch this movie last night. I want to watch a decent creepy movie but disappointingly The Howling failed to give what we expected. The movie started flat with a lot of conversations and nonsense. Landon Liboiron actually looked like Daniel Radcliffe when he is wearing glasses. I remember that he starred in Altitude the last DVD we watched which sucked. Then here we are again watching another boring movie of him. The werewolves was pathetic the costumes will not even scare a seven year old kid.  The The only good thing I liked here was Lindsey Shaw I think she's cute. Overall the high school romance between the leads and the werewolf thing failed to impress us as this sloppy unscary film is not worth it.

Will Kidman (Landon Liboiron) finally got the attention of  Eliana Wynter (Lindsey Shaw) the girl of her dreams in school. But he also discovers a dark secret from his past that he is about to become a werewolf. Will must fight his bloodlines to save his life and his true love.

Killer Elite: Movie Review

Killer Elite
By: Lakwatsera Lovers

We ended our day together watching the advance screening of Killer Elite last night at SM Megamall Cinema 7. A lot of guys are waiting for this film because its stars three of the best action stars in Hollywood.

The story sets in 1980's environment based on a true story Killer Elite pits up a smashing match up between Clive Owen and Jason Statham. Although the movie focused more on Jason Statham and I felt that Robert De Niro just have a long cameo role. Action scenes are slightly felt and the story has a lot of twist making the movie a little bit complicated. There are just 2 scenes I really enjoyed one was the fight between Clive and Jason in the hospital the other one is the scene were Statham was tied into a chair but still manage to fight 2 guys. Overall the movie is fine but we got little bit bored with a lot of talkies all throughout.

Danny (Jason Statham) nearly died on their last mission he decides to retire. But a year later, he gets a letter saying his mentor Hunter (Robert De Niro) has been kidnapped by a rich sick sheik and told that he has to commit three kills or they will kill his mentor. So Danny gets his old teammates together, and goes off on the mission and plot the kills that would look like an accident. But their assignment gets complicated, when a SAS agent Spike (Clive Owen) track down their plans.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 3 out of 5 stars better than Blitz. I still think a Clive Owen Vs Jason Statham is awesome.

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

Based on the movie poster you'll surely grab this one at a video store if your a fan of supernatural themed movie. Magic 89.9 Dj's Tony Tony, Sam YG and Grace Lee hosted the event. A lot of people came as they participated in games and captured their moments. Sad to say we just tried one game because of long lines and we came up short having zero in our score sheets. Real Steel: Movie Review

Real Steel
By: Lakwatsera Lovers

We just can't wait till weekend to watch Real Steel as we've been waiting for this movie for months. We watched it last night and all I can say it is one of the best movie we watched this year. The CGI effects really amazed me, It's like a mix of Transformers and Rocky combined in one spectacular film.

The year was 2020 and robots are the ones who boxed inside the ring. Charlie Kenton (Hugh Jackman) once ruled in boxing is now spending his time dealing with robots to make small money for living. Down and out he found out that his former girlfriend died and her sister wants the full custody of their son Max (Dakota Goyo). Charlie agreed to take care of Max for a summer for money so he can buy a new robot.

The bonding of the father son continues as they end up in a junkyard where they found an old sparring bot named Atom. Inch by inch they trained and battled day by day. Until they become famous resulted to be invited to fight the big guns on the big league.

Overall the movie is predictable but having that stunning visuals and effects keeps the movie exciting and enjoyable. Kids will surely love this movie as I was also a sucker of robots when I was still a kid. Watching them fight makes me cheer specially with the match between Atom and big mighty Zeus. Hugh Jackman did a very good job in his character being a hot headed father handling his emotions with his son he never knew sells the moment of a father and son relationship. Better watch it this weekend as we recommend this movie for the whole family.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it a perfect 5 out of 5 stars we just want to say one thing to the producers of this film, do a sequel we want to see Atom versus Zeus in a rematch.

Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton
Dakota Goyo as Max Kenton
Evangeline Lilly as Bailey Tallet
Anthony Mackie as Finn
Olga Fonda as Farra Lemkova
Karl Yune as Tak Mashido

 * Much of the robot boxing fights were motion-captured using professional boxers, supervised by Sugar Ray Leonard.
* Each of the robots were built both in real life and CGI. For certain shots with animatronics, they were controlled by more than 20 puppeteers.
* Midas' Mohawk hairstyle is a nod to "Clubber" Lang, Mr.T's character in Rocky III.
