Mr. Popper's Penguins

Mr. Popper's Penguin
By: Matt Suzara

Actually there is also a book titled Mr. Popper's Penguin written by Richard and Florence Atwater published on 1938 but in this flick it has a different concept. Jim Carrey's funny personality which he always brings once again will give us another enjoyable movie for the whole family. Kids will love this because of the 6 cute penguins (Captain, Lovey, Bitey, Nimrod, Stinky and Loudy) which has different personalities quirks. A plus again for the moral values that you can learn in this movie mainly spending quality time with your family. Overall I can say that I really enjoyed the movie worth to see in the big screen but make sure you bring your kids with you and have a family bonding this weekend.

Super 8

Super 8
By: Kristina Marie Indanagan

This is a brilliantly made film. Director J.J. Abrams teams up with producer Steven Spielberg in this one of a kind movie that will gives you excitement and adventure. Super 8's setting was 1979 when a group of friends witnessed an explosive train crash while making a movie of their own. After the crash they soon discover that it wasn't an accident and they realized that there is something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined. It have many great moments mainly the train crash and the mysterious disappearances of people within the city.

Super 8 was genuinely another film that features the third kind. Another alien encounter that wishes to go back to his own land. He steals metals from every houses in the city so he could rebuild his ship and go back to his planet. They gave the film a lot of great effects and a great concept for the storyline. They even made a mini love story mix between the characters and moral lessons to be learned primarily to learn how to forgive. It also gives the audience searching clues on what should happen next. And make sure to stay at the credits and you'll have a smile on your face when you walk out the cinema.

Casts includes Joel Courtney, Elle Fanning,Kyle Chandler,Riley Griffits and Ryan Lee

Trivia:

* J.J. Abrams named the film's setting, Lillian, Ohio, after his grandmother.

* Since the kids were making a zombie movie, there are several references to director George A. Romero. For example, Romero Chemicals as the evil company, plus the poster for one of his movies in Joe's bedroom.

Special thanks to Pinoy Exchange Website and Admin Nakura who picked our entry to win tickets for the advance screening of Super 8.

X-Men First Class

X-Men First Class
By: Kristina Marie Indangan

This movie is so intriguing for me because it got a high ratings from the movie critics. I told myself how will I enjoy a X-Men movie without Wolverine, Cyclops, Gambit, Storm etc. but the answers to my questions were answered when we watched it. You will witness how it all started a very outstanding prequel to the series and a lot of action between humans and mutants. I enjoyed the storyline specially the Magneto and Xavier's friendship that ended in which they cant settle their differences in what they believe. Overall X-men fans will be satisfied with this epic film.

Trivia

* Taylor Lautner was considered to play Hank McCoy (aka Beast) but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. Nicholas Hoult was later cast.

* The uniforms the X-Men wear are colored blue and yellow, in homage to the original blue/yellow suits the X-Men wore in the comics from1963 (their debut) to 2001 (when X-Men (2000) and the Grant Morrison written New X-Men comic inspired a change to black leather).

* A telepathic battle between Professor X and Emma Frost was going to be in the film, but upon the release of Inception (2010) the concept was scrapped.

Directed by: Matthew Vaughn
Distributed by: 20th Century Fox

The Hangover Part II

The Hangover Part II
By: Kristina Marie Indanagan

Do you still have a Hangover last time? You should not miss this.

One of the most awaited sequel this year, finally the Wolf Pack is back again to have another wacky adventure that surely will keep you laughing and enjoying every single moment of this movie. If you enjoyed the first film that have a huge success you will absolutely like this second set. This is your chance to hang out with this guys again with Stu (Ed Helms) Alan (Zach Galifianakis) and Phil (Bradley Cooper). Other casts includes Justin Bartha, Paul Giamatti, Jamie Chung and a cameo role from Mike Tyson.

Stu is getting married in Bangkok and they found themselves once again seeking clues what happened after the night they have beers and marshmallows in the campfire to celebrate Stu's future happiness. And adding to the mischief's they lost Teddy (Mason Lee) the brother of her future wife. This is a awesome movie for your barkada next weekend but don't try to bring kids because some of the scenes are not suitable for young audiences particularly the frontal nudity that Mr. Chow (Ken Jeong) did.

Trivia

* The Hangover Part II binged at the box office with a $103.4 million haul over the four-day Memorial Day weekend, setting a new revenue record for a comedy debut. The sequel to 2009's blockbuster surpassed the previous best comedy opening of $85.7 million for Bruce Almighty over Memorial Day in 2003.

* Mel Gibson was supposed to play the tattoo artist, but the idea was later dropped following protests from the cast and crew. He was replaced by Liam Neeson. Director Todd Phillips later wanted to reshoot Neeson's scene, but Neeson was unavailable to return, as he was filming Wrath of the Titans (2012). The scene was subsequently reshot with Nick Cassavetes in the role.

* In the scene where Stu discovers the tattoo on his face, Bradley Cooper genuinely broke into laughter and the director Todd Phillips decided to keep that take in the film.
