Water for Elephants Movie Review

Water for Elephants
By: Matt Suzara

Water for Elephants is based on a best selling book by Sara Gruen featuring Robert Pattinson filling the role of Jacob Jankowski a depressed veterinary student who worked in a circus after his parents died in a car accident. He fall in love with Marlena ( Reese Witherspoon ) the star attraction and wife of the circus owner August played by Christopher Waltz.

Watching the trailer a couple of times feels like a boring film for me but after I watched it last night I loved the concept and adaptation of the 1931 circus setting and the love triangle between the leads. Many movie critics said the film was lacking a vital spark between the leads to make a more drama truly compelling in the screen. I think the team up looked fine for me giving the audience a fresh look. The setting was perfect watching a 1930's scenery old school circus in trains a well designed adaption. Overall the movie is great and proved again that If you really love someone you wont set her free you should fight for your love even at your last breath.

* Sean Penn was cast but dropped out and was replaced by Christopher Waltz.
* Channing Tatum and Andrew Garfield both auditioned for the role of Jacob Jankowski.
* Scarlett Johansson turned down the role of Malena.

Arthur (2011) Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

I want to be Arthur so freaking bad…. Imagine you have all the money, you can buy anything you want, and you have expensive cars including a bat mobile. You also have a mansion with a floating bed and millions of dollars to spend in an auction. But in this film proves that money can’t but everything, I love the concept and the story of this remake flick of the 1981 film starring Dudley Moore. I haven’t seen the original one but I like the fact that Russell Brand did a delightful way of reviving the character of Arthur Bach. You will surely enjoy every scene and you’ll learn valuable lessons after you watched it. Jennifer Garner and Greta Gerwiq played their role well and another brilliant performance of Helen Mirren will be seen. So If your planning to watch a movie this Saturday put Arthur on the top of your list.

Irresponsible charmer Arthur Bach (Russell Brand) has always relied on two things to get by: his limitless fortune and the good sense of his lifelong nanny, Hobson (Academy Award winner Helen Mirren), to keep him out of trouble. Now Arthur faces his biggest challenge - choosing between an arranged marriage that will ensure his lavish lifestyle or an uncertain future with the one thing money can’t buy, Naomi (Greta Gerwig), the only woman he has ever loved.

  • This film marks the second time, in only two years, that a character previously played by John Gielgud Helen Mirren. Gielgud had previously played Prospero in Prospero's Books (1991), while Mirren played Prospera in Julie Taymor's The Tempest (2010/II). has been re-written as a woman and cast with
  • This remake has been made and released practically exactly thirty years after the original Arthur (1981)

Beastly Movie Review

By: Matt Suzara

Beastly is like a remake of one of the best fairytale adapted movie of Disney (Beauty and the Beast).
It's I am Number Four meets Blondie of Sucker Punch, the film was lackluster at first but as the story goes on it gives the audience a warm feeling through their hearts and a little funny skits all throughout the movie. If you are a fan of the half Filipina Actress Vanessa Hudgens like me you should not miss this film because she is such a beauty during the entire flick. I'll recommend this to girls who loves a romantic filled movie.

Kyle (Alex Pettyfer) thinks he is God's gift at his high school. He plays a prank on a fellow high school student, Kendra (Mary-Kate Olsen) who, unbeknown to him is a witch. Kendra teaches him a lesson by putting a curse on him making him as beastly on the outside as he is on the inside. He has one year to find someone to fall in love with him or stay like that forever.

  • The producers released a statement that they were seeking a teen actor in the vein of Robert Pattinson for the role of Kyle.
  • The film was originally slated for release in 2010, as advertised by earlier promotional materials. However, it was moved up several months to avoid competing with Charlie St. Cloud a movie starring Zac Efron whom Vanessa Hudgens was dating at the time.
  • Zac Efron was talked about to be cast as Kyle.
  • Neil Patrick Harris wore opaque contact lenses so he would actually be sightless when they were filming.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules

Diary of a Wimpy Kid : Roderick Rules
By: Matt Suzara

From the hilarious comical books made by the American author Jeff Kinney ( Diary of Wimpy Kid ), This is the 2nd movie and the 2nd book of this great series hitting the theaters this Black Saturday. This movie is so fun to watch, a lot of playful scenes and has a lot of lessons that you can learn from this flick.. I also love that they retained all the casts except for Chloe Moretz and they made the film twice as funnier than the first one. I hope that they would make the other books come to life before the casts hits their teenage years because this franchise for me is such a hit. Be sure that you'll put this movie on your checklist this weekend because you cant miss this one of a kind film.

Synopsis: Back in middle school after summer vacation, Greg Heffley and his older brother Rodrick must deal with their parents' misguided attempts to have them bond.

Trivia: The Next 3 books of this series are ( The Last Straw, Dog Days and The Ugly Truth )

Casts:  Zachary Gordon, Devon Bostik, Robert Capron, Steve Zahn and Rachael Harris

Chris Tiu: On self-improvement and OraCare

SELF-IMPROVEMENT is something that basketball star Chris Tiu truly believes in. In his official blog ( he writes: “I believe it is truly helpful to one’s self-improvement if one makes a conscious effort to set concrete goals to enable him/her to work towards it. It doesn't matter if it’s a long-term goal, mid-term or short-term goal.” For Chris, self-improvement is the philosophy behind everything he does.

If you look at the biographies of all the successful people in the world, you will notice that they all have one thing in common: they always look for ways to improve their own lives and the lives of others. That way, when they succeed, they are able to also benefit their fellow man,” says Chris, adding that he would like to do the same for his fellow Filipinos.

Chris Tiu is not your ordinary celebrity. He’s an international-caliber athlete and captain of a national basketball squad that represents the Philippines proudly in international basketball tournaments. He is a commercial model, TV host, and is even a public official, serving as a councilor in Barangay Urdaneta in Makati City.

I strongly believe we can achieve our goals no matter what people say. With the right frame of mind, training, exposure, discipline, skill, we can succeed in life despite the odds! Just like how Manny Pacquiao, the Azkals and other sports heroes have done,” says Chris.

From the Olympics to oral care
Chris believes that self-improvement extends to all aspects of one’s life – even oral care. This is why he switched from his old mouthwash to OraCare Mouthrinse.

"My old mouthwash worked. Like many conventional mouthwashes, the brand contained alcohol. It freshened my breath but only for a short time. Another major downside was the stinging, even burning sensation in my mouth. It even left an unpleasant aftertaste. When I switched to OraCare, I never went back to my old mouthwash brand,” says Chris.

He adds that not only is OraCare pleasant to use, it is also very effective in removing unpleasant mouth odors.

The first thing I noticed was that OraCare Mouthrinse is clear, like water. I enjoy using it because it does not have alcohol and no strong flavor that can sting my mouth. At the same time, it gives me a refreshing feeling afterwards, with no aftertaste. I just keep using it, bringing it around with me in my gym bag," says Chris.

For Chris, OraCare is yet another tool for self-improvement.

It may seem like a minor change, but having fresh, pleasant breath makes a great difference whenever I talk to people—whether they’re my teammates, my fans, my constituents or my friends and relatives. Having fresh breath sends them the message that I care about myself, my hygiene, and that I also care about their comfort when we talk,” he says.

Chris adds that using OraCare improves a person’s oral hygiene and even encourages his friends to use it.

I have friends who know they ought to use mouthwash more often. Unfortunately, alcohol-based mouthwashes are too strongly-flavored and contain alcohol that can be painful to the mouth. This makes using them quite unpleasant and discourages more regular use,” he says.

And because OraCare contains no alcohol and has a mild flavor, people need not be afraid to try it and experience its benefits for themselves. Its active ingredient, Stabilized Chlorine Dioxide, is proven to effectively eliminate strong mouth odors from flavorful food, as well as kill odor-and-cavity-causing bacteria in the mouth. This combination of potent anti-odor, anti-bacterial effects plus the pleasant, gentle taste and mouth-feel, makes OraCare ideal for those who wish to improve their oral hygiene and, in turn, themselves.

Chris Tiu takes self-improvement seriously and makes it part of his lifestyle. This is why he chose OraCare over his old mouthwash. OraCare is simply the better choice.

OraCare Mouthrinse Cool, Regular and Arctic variants are available in all major supermarkets and drugstores nationwide.

Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son

I am one of the biggest fan of Big Momma series. I certainly love Martin Lawrence character portraying a big fat lady undercover cop. But in this movie it should have twice the fun and entertainment that the director failed to give. The story was so simple and I think it he should made this film a little bit more funnier than the last two Big mommas house series.

FBI agent Malcolm Turner and his 17-year-old son, Trent, go undercover at an all-girls performing arts school after Trent witnesses a murder. Posing as Big Momma and Charmaine, they must find the murderer before he finds them.

* Nia Long declined to reprise her role as "Sherry" from the first two films.

* Brandon T. Jackson, who plays Trent, was actually a 26 year old man portraying a 17 year old boy at the time. He took over the role from Jascha Washington who appeared in the first two films.

Cozy Living in Beautiful, Historic Cavite

CAVITE is where the thrills of modern living and the glory of our noble past meet. It is the birthplace of the Republic of the Philippines, where the highlights of the 1896 Revolution took place a place of natural beauty, serenity, relaxation and urban convenience.

A coastal province south of Metro Manila, Cavite offers historical landmarks, sites of religious significance and natural attractions: from the Aguinaldo Shrine where Philippine Independence was declared; to majestic waterfalls, resorts and caves; as well as beautiful churches and shrines.

Today, Cavite is more than just a vacation spot. Thanks to the residential developments of Avida Land Corp., Cavite is now a home to families and professionals seeking a relaxing hideaway from the stressful hustle and bustle of the metropolis.

Cavite has the perfect combination of carefree and cosmopolitan living. If you want a home in a peaceful yet progressive community, you can always find one in our Cavite residential projects,” says Tess Tatco, Marketing Head for Avida.

Avida’s residential projects in Cavite, all located along the Molino-Paliparan Road, include Avida Residences Dasmariñas, Avida Settings Cavite, Avida Village Santa Cecilia and Avida Residences Santa Catalina.

The newly completed amenity area at Avida Settings Cavite will be officially unveiled during the grand launch of the development’s 2nd phase on March 13.

A total of 1.8 hectares of green open spaces and pocket parks make for a relaxing living experience at Avida Residences Dasmariñas.

The American-inspired houses at Avida Settings Cavite boast of spacious rooms for growing families.

More than 1, 200 families have already made the right choice of choosing to call Avida Residences Santa Catalina their home in the South.

Well-planned Mediterranean-inspired houses at Avida Residences Dasmariñas are available through various financing terms.

Avida Village Santa Cecilia is an idyllic community in Cavite that features sloping terrains, well-constructed amenities and affordable homes, all of which are surrounded by lush greeneries.

Privacy, convenience and access

Avida Residences Dasmariñas boasts of its unique combination of exclusivity and accessibility. The entrance to this 17-hectare residential development is located along the main road and is easily reached by public transport. Nestled in its secure walls are contemporary Mediterranean-inspired homes that are available through financing schemes that are easy on the pocket for families who are looking for a “step-up” in their lives. Ready-for-occupancy units are available, allowing current renters to immediately move-in and avoid “double renting” while paying for their monthly amortization. The project also boasts of various amenities, all of which are integrated in 1.8 hectares of green recreational space.

A short drive from all of life’s necessities, Avida Settings Cavite sits on a 57.5-hectare property filled with generous, beautifully landscaped open spaces surrounded by trees and other greenery. Targeting the more discerning families with its spacious house and lot offerings, this American-themed community also features preserved sloping terrains and a courtyard system that encourages interaction among neighbors.

The well-crafted Asian-inspired houses in Avida Village Santa Cecilia, meanwhile are offered at a price point that is affordable for the country’s young and emerging households. Built in a lush 15-hectare land, the project features key amenity areas and a neighborhood of row houses called the Isabella Townhomes.

Avida Residences Santa Catalina is a 38-hectare master-planned community that is only 45 minutes away from Makati. Its Mediterranean-inspired homes are nestled in an area flourishing with trees and playgrounds, where kids and adults alike can bond and relax. The project is Avida’s first in the city of Cavite and is already home to more than 1,200 families.

The promise of forever

All properties have round-the-clock security and full-perimeter fences with quality, well-managed amenities. Indeed, Avida developments are the perfect setting for a home to spend forever with loved ones.

“With our commitment to service and maintenance, homeowners are assured that their dream homes are well-planned, well-constructed and well-maintained,” Tatco relates.

Why moms trust ASCOF Lagundi Syrup

ASCOF Lagundi is made from 100% Lagundi leaves.

WHEN it comes to administering medicine to their children, moms are quite meticulous. After all, they want to give the best to their kids, while making sure that they don’t suffer from side effects that some chemical cough formulations may cause in the long run.

“I don’t want my children to take any cough medicine that might have side effects, so I give them ASCOF Lagundi Syrup, says mommy Rosanna.

“It’s difficult for kids to take medicines that taste bitter. Good thing ASCOF Lagundi has deliciously flavored syrup variants,” Mommy Allen says.

I trust only ASCOF Lagundi Syrup because I know it’s safe for their health,” says the 26-year old Charm.

Forty-one-year old Singson-Kawpeng adds, “I don’t want my children to take any cough medicine that might have side effects, so I give them ASCOF Lagundi Syrup.”

ASCOF Lagundi is made from 100% Lagundi leaves. Clinical trials have shown Lagundi to be equally effective as other chemical-based over-the-counter cough medications, but without their potentially harmful side effects.

ASCOF Lagundi works in three ways: one, it opens up the bronchial tubes to facilitate airflow, therefore making it easier for the child to breathe; two, it dissolves mucus so it’s easier to expel; and three, it reduces the inflammation in the respiratory passages due to its anti-histaminic action.

Aside from its efficacy and safety, these mothers also laud the fact that it is easy to have their kids take ASCOF Lagundi syrup because it comes in flavors that children love—strawberry and ponkan.

It’s difficult for kids to take medicines that taste bitter. Good thing ASCOF Lagundi has deliciously flavored syrup variants,” Hernandez says.

For older kids, there’s ASCOF Lagundi Forte Syrup in menthol and sugar-free menthol variants, recommended for kids age 13 years old and above.

Singson-Kawpeng shares that ASCOF Lagundi Syrup has made taking cough medication easier for her two children.

My two daughters love the yummy flavors of ASCOF Lagundi Syrup. They say it doesn’t taste like medicine at all,” she explains.

Hernandez, meanwhile, concludes, “It pains me to listen to my kids cough all day and through the night. I’m glad there’s ASCOF Lagundi that helps cautious moms like me relieve our children of their cough – the safe and natural way!,” Hernandez concludes.

We always have this at home ASCOF Lagundi is the best natural medicine for me and  my family.

Hall Pass Movie Review

Hall Pass
By: Matt Suzara

Another hilarious movie made by the Farrelly Brothers ( Directors of There's Something About Mary ) Hall Pass is a must see movie for married couples because they can easily relate to the story of the movie. Also a must see with your best buddies for a laugh-trip adult movie since the American Pie series. It is filled with a lot of entertainment and moral lessons in the whole movie that you should not pass. And don't miss the scene between the movie credits that totally give me a lot of laughs.

Rick and Fred ( Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis ) married men who loves to check out girls that they knew they could get if they were only single received a Hall Pass from their wives ( Jenna Fischer and Christina Applegate ) one week of freedom to do whatever they want, no questions asked. Soon they realize that their dream would end up in a outrageous funny adventure.

I hope my girlfriend will give me a Hall Pass in the near future ( in my dreams ) lol :) and hope to have Mr. Coakley's amazing abilities.

Trivia :Amanda Bynes was cast but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. She was replaced by Alexandra Daddario.

Rio in Robinsons Movieworld

By: Matt Suzara

As always Robinson's Movieworld held another contest in their Facebook page, just do a wacky pose picture with the backdrop of Rio on Robinson's Galleria cinema lobby. Robinson's is super generous that all who posted pictures on their page won 4 VIP tickets for the advance screening of Rio. The event was great because they have a lot of activities for the kids before the movie screening started (coloring, photo booth, picture taking with KOKO and a free taste of koko crunch cereal in the area).

Ms. Jemma of Robinson's Movieworld

Please like their fan page on facebook Robinsons Movieworld fan page  and visit their website for movie schedules and other promos

 Koko and Teenay

The movie was a very family oriented, I admit even I am 23 years old already I still love watching animated films. The movie was full of laughter and adventure with a little musical plays in it.
Blu a rare blue macaw bird that doesn't know how to fly lived with his owner Linda, learned that Blu's was the last male of his kind and they traveled all the way to Brazil to meet Jewel Blu's female counterpart but not long after they arrived they have been kidnapped by Bird smugglers. They started their adventure and met different bird friends along the way.

I am advising to bring kids because they will enjoy every single minute of this movie. :)
