Wonder Woman: Movie Review

By: Matt Suzara

Diana (Gal Gadot) is an Amazonian Princess, who is forbidden by her mother Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen) from venturing out of their magical island. Her mother knew that she is different from the others and the only way to protect her is by hiding her the truth. However, when a World War I spy soldier Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) accidentally discovers their hideout and learns the ill-fated result of war happening around the world; Diana decides to come with Steve and help out. She believes that if she can find and kill the God of War Ares, it will immediately stop the war.

DC finally hits a jackpot as Wonder Woman emerges as the best film in the DC Cinematic Universe. It is a wise move when they took a female Director in Patty Jenkins to take over the chair as she made a complete super hero package that you can ever imagine. The story was rich in details digging deep through the origins of the female iconic character.  It is well shot, and the action scenes were tremendously breathtaking and very impressive. The visuals were just simply glorious from start to finish, and it is perfect to be seen on an IMAX screen.

The film is boosted by the magnificent performances of the lead stars who know how to bring their characters into new heights. Gal Gadot was simply astonishing as she is captivating as Wonder Woman. She carried the film behind her back and just shows that a female superhero is also a force to wreck with. I already loved her in her previous films, but I became an instant fan after watching her play here. Chris Pine, on the other hand, is the perfect choice to play Steve Trevor. He is filled with wit and charm as he compliments Gadot's appeal. They are both oozing with charisma and showed a solid on screen chemistry throughout.

I was wrong with everything I've said before watching this film. I really thought that this film would just disappoint me as the trailer bored the hell out of me when I first saw it. Wonder Woman will turn as an instant classic. It is a solid film that has a heart and knows how to return the value of your hard-earned money. It also has its funny moments that lighten up the mood a bit and probably the superhero movie that can actually save the day.

Overall, DC finally creates a spectacular entry with just two charismatic stars who know what entertainment is all about. Plus getting a brilliant director to make everything right and to give hope to a lot of fans who is just waiting for the rebirth of the DC Universe. Wonder Woman succeeds in providing a dazzling superhero flick that is surprisingly flawless.
