The Guardians of the Galaxy returns with Star Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and Baby Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) finding themselves hired on a new mission. However, when Rocket tries to double-cross their employer - the leader of the Sovereign army led by Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) chases them into the galaxy and wants them dead. As the whole crew nearly crashes down, a mysterious ship helps them to avoid death. It turns out that the one helped them is a powerful force named Ego (Kurt Russell) who also happens to be the Star Lord's father.
After a successful first masterpiece by James Gunn, the chunk of awesomeness continues in Vol. 2. The opening minutes are already a gentle reminder of what are we all going to expect in this second chapter. It contains another epic soundtrack that sets the mood right. The tracks perfectly fit in each scene they are played into. All our beloved characters returned for another salvo with new faces to join the group. It also highlights the most adorable creature in the Marvel Universe in Baby Groot that everyone wishes to have in their backyard.
Volume 2 can't replicate the table set by its predecessor, but it is still a rare feature that knows how to entertain all the viewers. Director James Gunn gave each character a time to shine and managed to hold a steady plot line without ruining anything. It also doesn't run out of comedic bullets that hits neatly to make the audience laugh hard with some of its scenes. The entire thing is visually stunning and creatively brought into a new level which accentuates vibrant landscapes that has a blistering result in 3D.
Chris Pratt keeps the swagger into the character and fully embraces the role putting a lot of charm in it. This film reinvented his career and made him one of the top caliber actors in this generation. Dave Bautista finally broke out from his shell and became an instant favorite. Bradley Cooper brings more fun in Rocket while Vin Diesel's Baby Groot always steals the spotlight. It is also nice to see the ladies do their thing with Zoe Saldana and Karen Gillan enjoying their sibling rivalry. Newcomers Pom Klementieff and Elizabeth Debicki made their mark with their corresponding roles while Kurt Russell also did a great job expanding the GOTG line-up.
Overall, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is a well-crafted sequel. It picks everything what it left from the previous installment and once again provides the audience a cinematic experience at its finest. It may not surpass the greatness achieved by its predecessor, but it is only a few inches away from duplicating its one-two punch.
