PT Anderson's New Film “INHERENT VICE” Reveals Teaser Trailer

The teaser trailer for Warner Bros. Pictures' “Inherent Vice,” the new film from director Paul Thomas Anderson have just been revealed and may be viewed at

The film stars Oscar nominees Joaquin Phoenix (“The Master,” “Walk the Line”), Josh Brolin (“True Grit,” “No Country For Old Men”) and Owen Wilson (“The Royal Tennenbaums,” “Midnight in Paris”); Katherine Waterston (“Michael Clayton,” “Boardwalk Empire”); Oscar winners Reese Witherspoon (“Walk the Line”) and Benicio Del Toro (“Traffic”); Martin Short (“Frankenweenie”); Jena Malone (“The Hunger Games” series); and Joanna Newsom (“Portlandia”).

Inherent Vice” is the first ever film adaption of a Thomas Pynchon novel.

When private eye Doc Sportello’s ex-old lady suddenly out of nowhere shows up with a story about her current billionaire land developer boyfriend whom she just happens to be in love with, and a plot by his wife and her boyfriend to kidnap that billionaire and throw him in a loony bin…well, easy for her to say.

It’s the tail end of the psychedelic `60s and paranoia is running the day and Doc knows that “love” is another of those words going around at the moment, like “trip” or “groovy,” that’s being way too overused—except this one usually leads to trouble.

With a cast of characters that includes surfers, hustlers, dopers and rockers, a murderous loan shark, LAPD Detectives, a tenor sax player working undercover, and a mysterious entity known as the Golden Fang, which may only be a tax dodge set up by some dentists... Part surf noir, part psychedelic romp—all Thomas Pynchon.

Oscar nominee Paul Thomas Anderson (“There Will Be Blood,” “The Master”) directed “Inherent Vice” from a screenplay he wrote based on the novel by Thomas Pynchon. Anderson also produced the film, together with Oscar-nominated producers Joanne Sellar and Daniel Lupi (“There Will Be Blood”). Scott Rudin and Adam Somner served as executive producers.

Anderson’s behind-the-scenes creative team included Oscar-winning director of photography Robert Elswit (“There Will Be Blood”), production designer David Crank (“The Master”), Oscar-nominated editor Leslie Jones (“The Thin Red Line”), and Oscar-winning costume designer Mark Bridges (“The Artist”). The music is by Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with IAC Films, a Joanne Sellar/Ghoulardi Film Company production, “Inherent Vice.”

Opening across the Philippines on February 2015, “Inherent Vice” is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment company.

Highly Unique and Original World of “FOOSBALL: THE UNBEATABLES” Opens October 1

Academy Award winner Juan Jose Campanella brings the highly-spirited action animation “Foosball: The Unbeatables” to life collaborating with a lot of talented people to produce a family movie that has a worldwide, relatable appeal.

Foosball: The Unbeatables” follows the journey of Amadeo (voiced by Rupert Grint), a small-town kid with great kids as a foosball player.   As he grows older, this is the only true ability he has developed.   But soon enough, Amadeo finds himself leaving his comfort zone – his foosball table and the bar he works for when he has to put together a team of unlikely heroes who would be willing to recover their village and its people when it is in danger; but above all, it’s about defending their honor.

Only someone as daring as Amadeo would take on the challenge on defending his town against an old challenger.  Ensuring his team’s victory seems impossible at first, but this is soccer, where miracles happen.  Not only will Amadeo and his inept soccer team play a key role in this match, but so will his beloved foosball figurines who magically came to life to help hi m.

I always loved animation, we achieved the movie’s unique style little by little, by trial and error and after a lot of testing.  It has to be a creation and a world that is compatible with 3D animation, it has to be translatable to the computer world and at the same time, it has to be original and unique.  It’s a family movie and there are certain gags that only adults will get but of course it won’t stop kids from enjoying the movie,” recalls Campanella.

Campanella was awarded two Emmys for his work and has been nominated twice in the best foreign film category, winning in 2010 for his work in “The Secret in their Eyes.”  He was also awarded the Goya for best Latin American film for his work.  He graduated from NYU film school and started his film career in the US working on television shows and features such as “House,” “30 Rock,” and “Law and Order SVU among others and the critically acclaimed Spanish TV series “Vientos deAgua.”  His other film features include “The Same Love Same Rain,” “The Son of the Bride” and “Luna De Avellaneda.”

Our intention was to create a highly unique and original world.  I do believe we succeeded because I haven’t seen anything like it in any other movie. In my humble opinion,” concludes Campanella.

Foosball: The Unbeatables” opens October  1 in theatres nationwide from Axinite Digicinema.

Steve Carell, A Patient Dad About to Lose his Cool in “ALEXANDER”

The incomparable Steve Carell (“Despicable Me” films) stars as Ben Cooper, a stay-at-home dad hoping to rejoin the ranks of the employed, in Walt Disney Pictures' hilarious family comedy “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.”

The film follows the exploits of 11-year-old Alexander as he experiences the most terrible and horrible day of his young life—a day that begins with gum stuck in his hair, followed by one calamity after another. But when Alexander tells his upbeat family about the misadventures of his disastrous day, he finds little sympathy and begins to wonder if bad things only happen to him. He soon learns that he’s not alone when his mom, dad, brother and sister all find themselves living through their own terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Anyone who says there is no such thing as a bad day just hasn't had one.

I am the patriarch, the father, the leader,” says Carell. “My character's been out of work for a while so he has assumed the duties of the fommy—the father/mommy. He's the guy who's in charge of the littlest Cooper and getting the other kids ready for school while his wife is pursuing her career.”

But when he lands a huge job interview, he’s unable to line up a babysitter in time and is forced to bring baby Trevor with him—which isn’t exactly the first impression he’d hoped to make. “He’s been unemployed for seven months,” says screenwriter Rob Lieber, “so he has a lot riding on this opportunity.”

Ben Cooper figures he has to soldier through when it comes to obstacles,” adds Carell. “He's a guy who tries to keep everything positive. I identified with the character, because as a dad, you feel like you need to be this steady hand—the rock. And at a certain point when that well runs dry, where do you go?”

Says director Miguel Arteta, “He’s the ultimate optimist, but this terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day tries his patience to the point that he finally freaks out. It’s a lot of fun to see a sunny character like that finally lose it.”

Steve Carell has established himself as a multi-talented force in Hollywood. Gaining recognition for his contributions as a correspondent on Comedy Central’s Emmy® Award-winning “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” Carell has successfully segued from the small screen to above-the-title status on the big screen.

In early 2013, Carell starred opposite Jim Carrey and Steve Buscemi in Warner Bros.’ “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone.” In July, Carell returned as the voice of Gru in “Despicable Me 2,” which has grossed more than $918 million worldwide and is Universal Pictures’ most profitable film, ever. The same month, Carell co-starred alongside Toni Collette, Allison Janney, Maya Rudolph and Amanda Peet in Fox Searchlight Pictures’ “The Way, Way Back,” which was written and directed by Academy Award® winners Nat Faxon and Jim Rash.

In 2012, Carell starred in “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World” opposite Keira Knightly. Later that year Carell was seen in the hit comedic drama “Hope Springs,” opposite Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones.

In the summer of 2011, Carell starred in “Crazy, Stupid, Love” opposite Julianne Moore, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. Produced by Carell’s production company, Carousel Productions, the critically acclaimed film went on to earn $142 million worldwide.

Opening across the Philippines on Oct. 15, 2014, “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International through Columbia Pictures.

A No-Sting Approach to Good Oral Health

For many people, good oral health begins and ends with brushing their teeth after meals. While this practice is commendable, sadly it is not enough. Food particles, especially those at the back of the teeth and in hard-to-reach areas, may remain lodged, causing a host of alarming oral health problems. These include halitosis (bad breath), gingivitis (inflammation of the gums) and periodontitis (a gum infection that damages soft tissue and the teeth’s bone support).

Food particles that are not removed by regular brushing may be used as fuel by anaerobic bacteria (bad bacteria) so they can multiply. These bacteria may cause dental problems such as tartar, plaque, and cavities, among others. They also release gaseous elements called volatile sulfur compounds, which are identified as major sources of strong odors in the mouth.

In addition to brushing, most dentists recommend flossing as part of regular oral hygiene. Many also recommend the use of mouthwash, especially if there are problems with oral malodor. Despite these advisories, patients still fail to comply. There are several reasons for non-compliance and one of these may be because the alcohol-based mouthwash they use stings the mouth and leaves a strong aftertaste.

Fortunately, there is no-sting OraCare Mouthrinse, which is specially formulated with stabilized chlorine dioxide (ClO2) and purified water, for a more pleasurable gargling experience. It is an effective way of eliminating harmful bacteria and odor-causing compounds in the mouth.

Currently, OraCare is the only mouthwash brand available in leading drugstores and grocery stores nationwide that contains stabilized chlorine dioxide. While it delivers the same benefits as the alcohol-based variants such as killing bad bacteria, preventing plaque build-up and promoting healthy gums, OraCare’s ClO2 also neutralizes foul odor-causing compounds for a really clean mouth. Plus, as an added benefit, it does not stain teeth, even with regular use, unlike mouthrinses that contain chlorhexidine.

Don’t wait for symptoms of dental issues to arise before you take action. Include OraCare in your regular oral care regimen. Aside from visiting the dentist twice a year and regular brushing and flossing, gargling with OraCare can help give you the exceptional oral health that you desire—a really clean mouth with really fresh breath, without the sting.

Made by Pascual Laboratories, OraCare Mouthrinse has three variants (Cool, Regular and Merrymint) and comes in 80mL, 250mL and 500mL sizes (except Merrymint). It is available in major drugstores and supermarkets nationwide.

Foosball The Unbeatables: Movie Review

By: Lakwatsera Lovers

First, we would like to thank Axinite Digicinema Inc. for inviting us last Friday to the special screening of Foosball: The Unbeatables. Honestly, we are not expecting a lot from this film, but since it is an animated flick, we knew that it has the potential to be an entertaining film.

Amadeo (voiced by Rupert Grint) is a great table football player in their village. When he was a kid, he defeated Flash (voiced by Anthony Head) at a table football game and impresses his childhood friend Lara, whom he secretly likes. 10 years later, Flash returns to the village as an International star and challenged Amadeo into a real football match. With Amadeo running out of options, his miniature foosball players come to life and help him to find a way to defeat Flash in order to save the village.

Juan José Campanella, the Argentinian director behind The Secret in Their Eyes which won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film at the 82nd Academy Awards has done it again now with computer animation. He is dedicated to his work, and now brings another masterpiece, which is genuinely appealing to all ages.

The film is such a surprise and pretty entertaining from start to finish. It also has a lot of interesting characters, filled with color and lively voices that create a lot of witty moments. The animation is neat and impressive, which feels like a Pixar made film. Usually, animated films aim a much younger audience but with Foosball: The Unbeatables, we heard a lot of laughs coming from the adults who really enjoyed the humor and story of the film.

Overall, "Foosball: The Unbeatables" is one of the best animated film released this year. It is simple yet the magic lives beyond its imaginative premise. The entertainment value is at full price and is a definite stress reliever for the whole family.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 9.5 out of 10 stars

Cast: Rupert Grint, Anthony Head, Rob Brydon

Directed by: Juan José Campanella

Dominic Cooper is Prince Vlad's Nemisis in  “DRACULA UNTOLD”

Exciting British actor Dominic Cooper (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Need for Speed”) stars as Mehmed, the nemesis of Prince Vlad (Luke Evans), in Universal Pictures' epic action-adventure, “Dracula Untold.” A dangerous adversary with a misplaced vengeance, Mehmed’s greed directly prompts Vlad’s transition into a creature of the night.

Director David Shore shares: “It’s easy to take it too over the top and be too ‘arch’ with this arch-nemesis character, so I wanted Mehmed to be engaging, charming, a conversationalist—a wonderful man to have in the room, but someone who you do not trust as far as you can throw!”

The filmmakers had seen Dominic Cooper in “The Devil’s Double” and were struck by his ability to be incredibly charming and yet, at a moment’s notice, switch to a psychotic state. Producer Michael De Luca relays: “Dominic has such range to go from Howard Stark in `Captain America' to what you see in `The Devil’s Double,' which was so intense. He was so in that character that we chased him, and felt blessed that we got him. Dominic brings a character actor’s intensity, with a movie star’s good looks.”

When Vlad reunites with Mehmed, there are tense and futile negotiations between the two. Once brothers in arms during the time that a younger Vlad unwillingly served Mehmed’s father in the Turkish army, they are soon to be revealed as sworn enemies.

Their first scene together is a vital exchange of information for the audience, as we grow to understand the relationship between Mehmed and Vlad…and the terror of Vlad’s dark past. Cooper provides: “It’s very much a performance played out to manipulate and to anger and to upset. But it also reveals their history together: that Mehmed’s father stole Vlad away from his own family to bring him up as a child warrior and that Vlad and Mehmed had a very close bond as children.”

The year is 1462, and Transylvania has enjoyed a prolonged period of peace under the just and fair rule of the battle-weary Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia, and his beloved and brave wife, Mirena (Sarah Gadon). Together, they have brokered peace for their country and ensured its people are well-protected, especially from the powerful Ottoman Empire—an ever-expanding scourge that has its sights on global domination.

But when Sultan Mehmed II (Dominic Cooper) demands 1,000 of Wallachia’s boys—including Vlad’s own son, Ingeras (Art Parkinson)—be torn from their parents’ homes and forced to become child soldiers in his army, Vlad must decide: do the same as his father before him and give up his son to the sultan, or seek the help of a monster to defeat the Turks but ultimately doom his soul to a life of servitude.

Vlad journeys to Broken Tooth Mountain, where he encounters a foul demon (Charles Dance) and enters into a Faustian bargain—one that gives the prince the strength of 100 men, the speed of a falling star and enough power to crush his enemies. However, he will be inflicted with an insatiable thirst to drink human blood.

If by the end of three days Vlad manages to resist, he will return to his former self, and perhaps in that time manage to save his people. Though should he drink, he will be forced to dwell in the darkness for the rest of his days, feeding only on the blood of humans…and destroying all that he holds dear.

Opening across the Philippines on October 15, “Dracula Untold” is distributed by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.

Faking it in “LET’S BE COPS” Trailer and Poster Release

Let’s Be Cops” is the ultimate buddy cop movie except for one thing: they're not cops.  When two struggling pals dress as police officers for a costume party, they become neighborhood sensations.  But when these newly minted “heroes” get tangled in a real life web of mobsters and dirty detectives, they must put their fake badges on the line.

Faking it real time, these fake cops have just found some real trouble. Starring Damon Wayans Jr. and Jake Johnson,     The idea for the movie was born when director/co-writer Luke Greenfield decided to spend Halloween in a police officer’s uniform – a choice that had unexpected consequences.

My costume designer at the time got me a real LAPD uniform and my buddy and I walked around Los Angeles,” Greenfield remembers. “The sense of power and authority was incredible. I was single at the time, and it became quite easy to talk to women on the street.”

With co-writer and executive producer Nicholas Thomas, Greenfield developed the pitch that was to become LET’S BE COPS. “We came up with the idea quite quickly,” says Thomas. “We pitched the project to 20th Century Fox, and it sold.”

The two lead characters have no money and their self-worth is gone,” says Greenfield. “Then, all of a sudden, they are street heroes. Their fun masquerade escalates to the point where it starts getting dangerous and they mess with the wrong people.”

The two writers created the two principal characters somewhat in their own images. “Justin is me,” says Greenfield. “He’s passionate about what he creates in the videogame world, as I am about my motion picture projects. Only he’s afraid to be direct and authoritative. Ryan is sort of based on Nick Thomas. He is more outspoken and braver, and more likely to get us both into hot water.”

The first thing the filmmakers did after getting the production green light was cast the lead characters, Justin and Ryan. They chose two comic actors who were actually close pals.

“Damon and Jake are close friends, big fans of one another’s work and had been dying to do a film together,” Greenfield adds.  “Casting them was incredible luck, because throughout production they were always off in a corner, laughing and joking just like their characters. The characters audiences will see on screen are very close to who Damon and Jake really are. It was fantastic.”

Check out the movie’s trailer release here:

Rated R16 by the local censors board, “Let’s Be Cops” opens November 5 in cinemas nationwide from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.
