What's your number is a funny, silly rom-com movie with a very interesting story. The team-up of Anna Faris and Chris Evans simply brought the films life with their unique chemistry. Faris always known for her silly roles (Scary Movie and The House Bunny) still had her unique style in acting specially when delivering her comedy and has a very likable personality. Meanwhile Evans has this charismatic factor with good looks and perfect body. Their partnership flows very well and the movie never had a dull moment.

Ally (Anna Faris) a thirty something, with a chain of failed relationship was fired in her work. After reading a magazine article about on the average number of lovers women should have in their lifetime. She realizes that she is over that limit and decided to track down all her ex-boyfriends.With the help of Colin (Chris Evans) her neighbor, they track down all her past lovers to find her ideal one. 

The story is quite predictable and we noticed that some scenes from the trailer are missing in the movie. We stayed until the end of the credits thinking that the scenes we were looking for might be there. My favorite part was the horse basketball match-up between the two at the TD Garden.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 4 out of 5 stars What's your number entertained us and still a must watch for you guys.

The 37th Season of the PBA will open this coming Sunday October 2, 2011 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. After the opening ceremonies the first game will feature the crowd favorite Barangay Ginebra Kings against Rain or Shine Elasto Painters. 

Three conferences will again be played this season first is the Philippine Cup where each team will play a total of 14 games, with top eight teams advancing to the quarterfinals and the two bottom teams will be eliminated. The second conference, the Commissioner's cup will feature each team having an import with unlimited height while the last conference, the Governor's Cup will limit each teams with a 6-foot-5 and below reinforcements.

Change-Up: Movie Review

Despite of heavy rains and strong winds due to typhoon Pedring we still manage to watch the advance screening of Change-Up at Robinsons Galleria last night. Thanks to United International Pictures facebook page for choosing our entry to win those tickets.

The Change-Up body swap comedy had a lot of fun moments all throughout the movie. A lot of critics gave it a poor rating which obviously i don't agree with. Best friends exchanging bodies and switching lives with two talented actors (Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds) is a big reason to watch this flick. It is a R-13 adult comedy movie and it is enjoyable as the writers of The Hangover gave another great formula for this film. The cuts was just not that clean but expect a strong humor as the movie starts with a lot of shit (in Dave's mouth). 

Dave (Bateman) a married lawyer and a father of three, Mitch (Reynolds) a charming bachelor which is engage in making soft porn movies. After a drink together they pee in a magical fountain wishing they had each others lives finding out the next day that they switched bodies and completely freaked out. Change-Up is a well made film that will be included in our list of best R movies this year.

Thanks to my cousin because she gave her tickets to us so we can attend the special advance screening of Friends with benefits last night at SM Megamall sponsored by Velvet Channel.

We totally loved the movie because of the good chemistry between the two leads (Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis) the film is so fun to watch. If you already watched No Strings Attached released earlier this year Friends with Benefits will double what Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman did. This film is much smarter, funnier and more enjoyable because of the spark with the leads stars in or out of the bed making them as one of our best rom-com team up. 

Justin Timberlake proves that he is one good lead man and he can carry a movie into success which I look forward next month on his next movie In Time with Amanda Seyfried. Mila Kunis is also a perfect lead obviously smoking hot in every scene, very playful and an actress that can be easily loved. They also had a strong supporting cast especially Woody Harrelson's gay role entering the mix. The idea of the story is simple they more than friends, but less than lovers. Enjoying comforts between serious relationship and simple friendship. And mostly to enjoy sex with each others company without using any emotions, leading them into a very complicated spot. Overall this is a must see film you should not miss this awesome team-up

Thank you Sir Enzo of  Juan Manila Express for letting me cover Candy Fair last September 24 at Mega Tent Events. Sure it is one of the most exciting event for teenage girls who love to read Candy Magazine as the whole tent is full of Candy Cuties. Aside from that there are many Cutie Celebrities that is present to rock the crowd with their own performances. I spotted some of them backstage like Robbie Domingo, Martin Del Rosario, Albie Casino, James Reid and Elmo Magalona.

There are a lot of booths filled with different activities. The most attractive booth for me was with Post it, they had a message board completely covered with post it notes from everybody. I imagined that John Llyod Cruz will come out from nowhere from that board reviving his role as Apollo in My Amnesia Girl. The event kinda reminds me of my high school days, watching girls in fashion clothes with their friends makes me miss my barkada.

Candy Fair 2011 once again was such a hit and I expect a bigger fair next year.The picture below is just the only picture I have with one of the cuties.

Last night was Friday and it is another movie date for the both of us. We decided to watch another Cinemalaya entry. With the past two indie films that entertained us a lot ( Ang Babae sa Septic Tank and Zombadings 1: Patayin sa Shokot si Remington) Rakenrol did not disappoint us another impressive film worth seeing in the big screen.

The movie was filled with humorous scenes mostly when Ketchup Eusebio and Alwyn Uytingco was in the mix. The story has a great concept featuring the life of a music band "Hapipaks" which consist of Irene (Glaiza de Castro) as their vocalist, Mo (Ketchup Eusebio) their lead guitarist, Junfour their (Alwyn Uytingco) drummer and Odie (Jason Abalos) their Bass guitarist and song writer. It highlighted on how the band reach its ups and down, dealing with their own problems in life but still keeping them together as good friends for the sake of music. The surprise hit for us was the role of Diether Ocampo as Jacci Rocha as an egomaniac douchebag make us laugh a lot of times. It's like Johnny Bravo's character entered Diet's body which was quite very entertaining. Jason Abalos also impressed us in his role while he was falling in-love with Irene it featured a love triangle between them and Jacci Rocha. Also expect a lot of Cameo roles in the movie and a tons of laughter with Mo's roommate the "Tae-Art" artist. Overall you should not under estimate this movie as it has some strong points that will interest the audience.

Aside from the season 3 premier they also introduced their newest mouthwatering dessert (KFC's Streetwise Spoonfuls). For a very low price of  29 pesos you can enjoy one of their four new exciting flavors (Chocolate Mousse, Mango Chessecake, Choco Banana Pie and Chocolate Tiramisu). They gave away free samples so everyone can taste the yummy treat. We have tasted 3 flavors already, It is so good and it will satisfy your cravings.

Thank you to Ms. Jhoni Ablaza for giving her tickets for the advance screening of Abduction last night at SM Megamall cinema 6.

It's Jason Bourne meets Eagle Eye in this action mystery movie that will be released on September 22. Starring one of the hottest guy in the Twilight series Taylor Lautner taking a break from his Werewolf role. The story was great with a lot of mystery and twist about the real identity of Nathan that made the movie more interesting. Twilight fans will surely enjoy this movie especially Team Jacob since most of the time Taylor Lautner always taking his shirt off making the girls excited. It just fell short in action scenes but it still manage to satisfy me to know what would happen next and what would be the ending.

The story is about Nathan Harper (Taylor Lautner) finding out his baby picture in a missing persons website making him realize that his parents are not is own and his life is a lie. Learning that his life is more complicated and dangerous than he could ever imagined. Just as he begins to piece together his real identity, He is targeted by a team of trained killers and CIA agents forcing him to run with the only person he could trust, Karen (Lily Collins). He realizes that the only way to survive is solve the mystery of his biological father and the only way to do this is to stop running and take matters in his own hands.

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 4 out of 5 stars If you are a Twilight fan and you just cant wait to see Jacob in Breaking Dawn, you should watch this movie this weekend.

Horrible Bosses gave what we expected being one of the hilarious movie this year. The scenes was absolutely funny you will never get bored in this adult comedy genre. Nick (Jason Bateman), Kurt (Jason Sudeikis) and Dale (Charlie Day) each have crazy bosses, they planned to murder them in order to have a peaceful working place. Harken (Kevin Spacey) an evil egomaniac in a suit, Pellitt (Colin Farrell) a sleazy Mega Mind look alike and Julia (Jennifer Aniston) a sexual harassing dentist complete the all star cast. And don't forget the funny "MF" Jones (Jamie Foxx) acting as their murder consultant.   

We like the movie, a lot of people can relate to the story thinking that in some point of their life they want to kill their irritating boss maybe tie him/her up and feed to hungry crocodiles. It is a release stress movie specially for those who works for long hours I guarantee that you and your co-workers will enjoy this film and all of you will have a topic to talk about when you go to work the next day. If you liked Hall Pass and Hang Over 2 this is a must see for you.

Don't be Afraid of the Dark

Another classic horror movie from the fantasy specialist Guillermo del Toro Presents Don't be afraid of the dark. The story is about Sally a young girl who is sent to live with her father and his girlfriend. Soon she is hearing voices coming out from the basement which leads her in trouble caused by ancient little creepy creatures.  

This is a slow paced horror movie but it is still entertaining. Not that scary but it has a unique story with Bailee Madison providing her talent in acting at a young age she will convince the viewers to leave some imaginative thinking before they go to sleep. I just don't agree with the silly title which is obviously the opposite. If you are a fan of haunted houses or you have a playful mind this is a good reason for you to watch this. Overall this film it is  not that bad but not that good.

POP HEARTTHROBS 1:43 (pronounced as “one forty-three”) was handpicked by international label MCA Music as guest performers in the much-anticipated American Idol Season 10 mall tours in Trinoma and Market! Market! on Sunday and Monday, respectively.

Johnny English Reborn is already out here in our country thanks to United International Pictures and Solar Entertainment Corporation because in the United States it will be released on October 28.

Eight years after the first film Mr. English will embark into another mission twice as funnier than the first one. The slapstick version of James Bond, Rowan Atkinson still have his comedic tactics to entertain his audiences. I admit I am a big fan of his series Mr. Bean even I watched it a lot of times it still gives me a laugh. His humor never gets old and he is the master of the straight face.The story it self is cleverly made with a lot of hilarious scenes especially when the old Chinese lady with the deadly vacuum cleaner gadget is trying to assassinate Johnny English that always ends in a disaster. Overall this is a must see movie, a very entertaining film from start to finish. 

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 5 out of 5 stars I hope for another sequel or another Mr. Bean movie from Rowan Atkinson.

After 8 years the Spy Kids franchise is back. Honestly I did not watched the previous parts of this film. Spy Kids 4 obviously targeted the children viewers. The film was not that entertaining, the story was predictable and will just entertain a bunch of 6 or 7 year old children laugh with a talking dog, some cool gadgets and a bunch of puke & diaper bombs.

Jessica Alba is Marissa Wilson who gave up her job and married a famous spy hunting television reporter. Her toughest challenge yet is trying to be a mother to her step kids Rebecca (Rowan Blanchard) and Cecil (Mason Cook) who obviously don't want her around. When things are getting smooth a maniacal Timekeeper speeds up time and threatens to take over the planet. With Armageddon quickly approaching the kids discovered that their step mom is a spy. Soon they are activated as the new Spy Kids facing their first mission: to stop the Timekeeper. 

Lakwatsera Lovers rates it 2 out of 5 stars. Jessica Alba's presence and the talking dog entertained me. I am indeed sure your kids will enjoy the movie.

* The genesis for this film came from an incident on the set of Machete. Star Jessica Alba had her then-one year old baby Honor Marie and was dressed to appear on camera when her diaper "exploded". Cancer is a traitor disease, last month the best friend of my mom died with brain cancer. She is very close to us because I treat her as my second mom. She battled cancer for almost a year and I saw all the hardships and agony she went through. Almost half of all cancer deaths can be prevented with early detection and treatment. If we only knew it much earlier we could have save her. But I know she is already happy in heaven with God. 

Here are some tips from Cancer Awareness Center to prevent cancer.

• Exercise regularly: Minimum 30 minutes per day. Moderate regular exercise reduces your cancer risk at least 40 percent.
• Eat a healthy well- balanced diet: little or no red meat, and lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Cigarette smoking increases your cancer risk by 30 percent.
• Maintain regular gynecological examinations: including Pap smears and Mammograms. Perform monthly breast self exams: It's the best preventive measure.

On December there would be a whole-day event for cancer patients and survivors.The event will include contests, freebies, inspirational talks, and performances. Donations are accepted and may be forwarded via PayPal to doc_alma_jones (at) yahoo (dot) com.

You should always have a regular check up with your doctor before it is too late. Eat healthy foods to live a healthy life.

Contagion: Movie Review

We had a debate last night after watching the advance screening of Contagion thanks to our friend Mharu Pacana for sharing his extra tickets. Teenay obviously liked the film and well for me not that much. So we decided to give our own opinion making this review.

The movie was good because we can really relate to it as this film can happen in real life. With our world making different changes like global warming it is not possible that a virus like this can quickly spread globally. If you watch this you can see in the world map that the Philippines is one of the affected country of this contagious disease. I learned things on how you can fight for your own survival on this kind of situation. And I cant imagine what would happen to us. Having poor technology our population could be easily swept in days. I was scared after, leaving me a lot of questions in my mind.

No doubt the film has a stellar cast from Matt Damon to Jude Law and a brilliant concept from their director Steven Soderbergh. But it was a little bit boring for me as all they had to do is talk, talk and talk. It just tackles about the unknown virus, where did it came from and what would be the cure for it nothing more. And why they released this in IMAX? I think Final Destination 5 is more deserving to have an IMAX release. Well I think you should still watch the movie and decide if you'll like it or not.

Lakwatsera Lovers Rates it 3 out of 5 stars. Teenay gave 4 stars and I gave it 2 stars so we have to balance it out.
